I love the merging of electronics and older school sounds/instruments. Been digging Animal Collective since Sung Tongs came out, that was a great intro album. That first song "Leaf House" is such an amazing blend of noise, I was hooked on them easily after 2 and 1/2 minutes or so of that song. My wife and I love to do tandem vocals at the end where she does the "no one, no one" and I do the weird "dee dee dee dee". Good times.

Since it isn't linked yet, I feel I must.

Listening to them actually gave me an idea for a solo music project I might work on in the future that I will call "Psychedelic Hoedown" and my symbol will obviously be a pH symbol.

Another good band of Today is Múm. Yet another great treat from Iceland, I think Sigur Ros get's enough props to not have to link any vids of them Smile. Múm is super pleasent stuff to my ears. Sometimes is way heavier on the glitchy electronic side, but merges quite well with traditional instruments. I'm also really a sucker for a melodica. Funny enough one of the two Sisters in Múm (at least at one time, maybe still) ended up in a relationship with one of the Animal Collective members.

These two songs are one after the other on the first album and have always been my fav's.

Here is one from a different album that showcases some of the lovely singing that is missing from those.

Also, not sure if these guys are still doing stuff. They started early 90's I think. But Bardo Pond was carrying on the torch of Psych Rock very well.

Ok before I get carried away I better end this with some Explosion's in the Sky and call it a day.

That would be Miss Kria Brekkan from my first post. Here's some more of her stuff w/ and w/o mum:

Yes! His music is so different, sometimes it's too "out there." If I'm in the right mood it's incredible. Coma Pony kills it. Gotta love the Volta though. Very happy

If anybody is into The Beatles but likes current music, check out Annuals. These guys go way unnoticed for how amazing they are. Their live performance kicks ass. Check out their album Be He Me from beginning to end, preferably on lots of acid. Really nice guys too, had the pleasure of smoking with them about a year back.

I'm melting thinking about the day I discovered this band...

Secret Chiefs 3 is extremely versatile making all types of music with cazy instruments. Trey Spruance is a former Mr. Bungle member.

Some tunes via the weedtemple:

Bastian Void - Ported

listen to this whole album for sure, but first try blasting off with a bit of THC to prep for your travels, grab a pair of comfy phones, and pump up the volume on this track:
