A crockpot is still okay for marsofolds tek though, right ? i was under the impression mimosa was no longer attainable, at least not in my region and not without using a black market source, acacia confusa is the alternative. crock pot works fine, any pot will do though, rapid boils may speed up the process, just cover with a lid

No I'm from uk, still good to go over here.

lucky you!! i wish i knew one of you all well enough to send me some! when i dd my imosa marsifold, a defat of your acidic solution will aide you in getting all white crystals, last time i used mimosa i awoke to 2 pyrexes completely covered with white crystals, not even the slightest yellow, yielded 8 or 9 g's from a kilo i believe, that was just my first pull!

Yeah ? Wow I hope I can get something along those lines with my first ! And well I was on the uk website before and it says in big red letters 'we do not ship to USA' due to it being unsafe to send there any more. Any tips for marsofold ? I should be starting next week, just need to finish last week of uni first !

ACRB has the advantage of being a little bit cheaper, but it's aslo trickier to get a purer product. A crockpot will do a spendid job.

Hey 1ce,
Just been looking at separatory funnels...wow they are more expensive than I thought for a large one. I was thinking just use the wine jug and maybe a 50 mL pipette for removing the top. Layer, we don't have turkey basters over here...

Sep funnels are awesome, but they can be costly at times. A pipette works awesome, I don't like bastors. Glass ones are hard to find and they slop black soup all over the darned place. I do like syringes though.

Ebay is the way to go. I got my 1000ml funnel for $25 and it is of good quality. I just used the box it came in to easily make a stand for it by cutting a hole in the top and sliding the funnel down into it, then cutting out one of the sides of the box so you can see inside.

A 1L sep funnel would not be large enough for the amount I would like to use, would probably need 4-5L which are hundreds of pounds ! Yeah I thought ebay would be the place to go, however, nearly all glassware comes from USA or China, and will take far too long to ship. I've found a large 100 mL glass syringe which may work well, but ideally a 50 mL glass pipette would be great.

You should probably get yourself a clamp and retort ring, should be relatively cheap and much more reliable than a cardboard box

Just a quick question for anyone who sees this, is it simply distilled white vinegar (~5% acidity) or is it actually acetic acid that's needed ?

Just the 5% white (distilled) vinegar will do the trick (not the malt/brown stuff) 40p at Asda. ( Acetic acid is the component of vinegar) Please do not PM tek related questions Reserve the right to change your mind at any given moment.

Ah, cool ! What ever is best for you !

1L sep funnel is great for a 50g extraction:3 50g mimosa lasts me a little while.

I've used a 1L sep funnel on 250g of bark when performing an A/B extraction. I just had to reduce my acid/bark soup quite a bit more than usual, but the outcome was the same.

i tend to do large naptha pulls, i just use aquarium tubing, just below the surface of the nps, create a syphon sucking some air through, and letting it drain, never getting the last bit as sludge usually comes with it,

I built a device some time back that woe=rked real well for things like this, I basically used a hand vacuum with some 1/4 inch tubing. I had a container at one end and a pipette jammed into the other. I just squeezed the hand pump and it would siphon everything for me, when I got to a layer I didn't want I'd just hit the release trigger to drain it all.
One of the better ways to siphon out a stb tek

And I'm just going to use a pipette with a filler bulb to siphon organic layer, I was going to use a big glass syringe I saw on ebay but i figured it may not reach far enough into the jug I will be using. Was just thinking about how I could set up a buchner funnel and flask to filter off the solvent in vacuo, 1ce; would a hand vacuum pump be any good for vacuum filtration ?

They work just fine, excellent work out too. If you get a rubber damn like the ones yiu'd use in a bath tub, it'll stop foam from coming over toward the end of the filtration.
