Sorry to doubt your wal-mart searching expertise man...

Good luck with your extraction..Thumbs up

And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

hehe no worries, your posts are always welcome. Much Love.

I'm gonna try a couple more places, asian market, taco trucks ect... I think I might try an ext. with the hi-yield stuff.

Wish benzyme or Infundibulum would post a reply about my theory on food grade lime containing these same impurities.

I found this on Mrs pickles wbsite....under faQs

Quote:

21. Explain the chemical reaction with Pickling Lime.
The Pickling Lime has calcium oxide, which is absorbed into the tissue of the cucumber. The calcium oxide then combines with pectin to make/form calcium pectate, which makes the final product firm.

22. What is the purpose of the lime in Pickling Lime?
This is confidential information

yea, wtf

pickling lime is calcium hydroxide, as you already know.
Calcium oxide lacks the hydrogen, and will readily convert to calcium carbonate in the presence of carbon dioxide
(good way to scrub carbon emissions from coal-fired plants).

Compared to the 2nd link in my first post the hi-yield brand seems to be similiar to food grade/regent grade lime.

Benzyme, these are just impurities right, any commercial grade will contain some or all of these? Much like what we would expect to see in mrs wages brand? And would you think that this brand (hi-yield) would be safe to use?

I was under the influence that calcium oxide is a precursor to calcium hydroxide, water being the addition?

calcium oxide is rather unstable compared to calcium hydroxide, which is probably the majority of their product. impurities may be calcium carbonate, which won't really affect an extraction; should be safe.

remember, all that crap is left behind once a nonpolar is added
(oh yea, avoid canola oil, gear oil, motor oil, etc., unless you want a mess)

What is meant by "trace elements" and does the silicon dioxide pose any problems?

I can't remember what I was reading but it was something about the silicon dioxide crystallizing when reacting with water or something along those lines, my thought was if some was 'suspended' in the naptha and carried into the precip container and being in the DMT. Which I know you don't want to smoke silicon dioxide.

Ya anrchy, I searched high and low all over the place for Mrs Wages Picking lime.. at walmart, ace, cub foods, rainbow foods, dollar store... none of these places had it. Ended up just ordering some online. Its cheaper online anyway got it for like 10$ vs 25 in stores.

Its probably safe to say that any impurities present in mrs wages lime would be pretty minute considering it is food safe, and should be considered negligable in extractions.

Silicon dioxide is sand!

that's essentially silicate, which is hydrophilic, and will remain in the aqueous phase.
if you are concerned about these sorts of impurities, pour your nonpolar solvent into a container with a layer of epsom salts, then decant. all water solubles will bind to the magnesium sulfate.

Awesome, exactly what I wanted to know. I'm going to continue my search for mrs wages, and do an extraction with the hi yield and post my results.

Appreciate the help benzyme.
