I e-mailed a vendor about getting a sample of MHSB(stem bark) and he replied with a high price and this comment....

"actually, the stem bark has a huge demand, just not for what you are wanting. it is used for miracle cures for cuts, burns and acne and is a health and beauty industry unto itself. :-)"

Co-incident-ally I found this on the web yesterday... seems at least one related species of mimosa IS endangered, and if I'm not mistaken there's been some speculation that this one may actually be what's being sold as M. hostilis in a lot of cases (I'm referring to that awesome report on Jungle Spice written by entropymancer that mentioned that most supposed M. hostilis seeds being sold by vendors that were germinated ended up flowing pink, plus the fact that native tribes are known to use this one along with or instead of M. hostilis and often refer to it by the same name as other tribes refer to hostilis, "Jurema negra".
