F for Fakes (Vérités et mensonges) 1973
Orson Welles' free-form documentary about fakery focusses on the notorious art forger Elmyr de Hory and Elmyr's biographer, Clifford Irving, who also wrote the celebrated fraudulent Howard Hughes autobiography, then touches on the reclusive Hughes and Welles' own career (which started with a faked resume and a phony Martian invasion). On the way, Welles plays a few tricks of his own on the audience.
The Nature of Existence (2010)
Filmmaker Roger Nygard roams the globe to the source of each of the world's philosophies, religions, and belief systems. He interviews spiritual leaders, scholars, scientists, artists, pizza chefs, and others who have influenced, inspired, or freaked out humanity.

Cool thread snozz. I shared this in another thread a few months ago, but it deserves to be here too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ15kFvUyJgJim al kahlilli presents a bbc4 doc about the concept of nothingness. A second part examines the concept of everything. Profound physics from a well respected scientist. It is also beautifully made with some great animations representing various concepts throughout the film. Very enjoyable. He also did a series called"atom" if anyone cares to link it? Oh great - the world has just been replaced by elf machinery. Sic transit gloria mundi

I have no problem with CT's but I don't think that's what the snozz was going for in this thread. No offense meant. The documentaries I posted are definitely within the parameters that Snozzleberry layed out. All three videos I posted contain hard factual evidence, and I displayed them exactly how he requested. I just thought I should make it clear that some of the information contained is very heavy and some misinformed people may consider them "Conspiracy Theories", facts and truth are all I am interested in. I sense no offense from your comment, I hope you take none from my original post. Thanks and Praises, Love and Gratitude, Peace and Unity, Hemp Seed & Honey

If I may chime in...I think the three videos kronas posted (as well as the two "What the Bleeps" ) are kind of at the edge of what I'd like to see in this thread, but I do not think they are entirely without merit. Looking at the what the hell are they spraying and others, there is hard evidence contained in them...it's the interpretations of this evidence that some may find questionable or object to. I considered posting this earlier, but decided to let it slide as (I think the Chinese said), when you create a litigious society, people start testing the rules. What I initially considered posting was a qualifier along the lines of "if the documentary contains hard evidence/material it qualifies, the interpretation of this evidence/material will not be as strictly scrutinized. Even in the 'pure' academic arenas, people misinterpret information and draw incorrect conclusions on a daily basis." However, as the Supreme Court ruled on pornography, I will make judgements based on what qualifies as too CT to be considered documentary. Obviously a few scribbles on a wall in a pyramid could be interpreted to be doomsday scripture about 2012...and while there is "hard evidence" in such cases, I would say its pure speculation or CT in such cases, whereas certain other examples may fall into a bit more of a grey area. The vast majority of the videos posted thus far are well within the realm of what I was hoping for. I have no problem keeping these others in (I've been toying around with starring them, but I haven't decided yet) and will continue to monitor/update this thread, including the editing or commenting on any videos that truly, imo, go over the line of CT. Kronas, I am still completely undecided on how I personally feel about chemtrails...but the "what the hell are they spraying" seems to be, from the little I've seen so far, the most informed and articulate pieces on the matter from the chemtrail believers' side and I really look forward to watching it. As you acknowledged, these topics are hard to get good, accurate info on and what information is presented is usually "discredited" by vested interests rather quickly. I thank you for sharing them and look forward to viewing them. Does this work for everybody? I'm open to input as this thread is as much for the comunity as it is for me to be able to increase my documentary intake. I do not wish to silence anyone's voice or interests, but I would, very much, like to keep this to the realm of verifiable and "true" documetaries (even if we may toe the line with a couple). Kronas, no offense taken. Snozz, It's all good with me I was only commenting because the heat surrounding CT's on this forum. I don't mind a good CT now and again though. I did run across this show Hamilton's Parmacopia that may or may not meet your standards. It is factual, first hand and AWESOME! BUT it's a show and not a true documentary. I made a separate thread because I didn't think it would qualify but if you want to add it, there it is. Hamilton's Parmacopia: SiHKAL 2011 Interview of Ann and Alexander Shulgin. Fractals: The Colors of Infinity 1995 Quote:The Mandelbrot set – someone has called it the thumb-print of God – is one of the most beautiful and remarkable discoveries in the entire history of mathematics. With Arthur C. Clarke as narrator and interviews with a number of notable mathematicians, including Benoît Mandelbrot, this program graphically illustrates how simple formulas can lead to complicated results: it explains the set, what it means, its internal consistency, and the revolutions in thought resulting from its discovery. Asked if the real universe goes on forever, Stephen Hawking defines its limit of smallness; the Mandelbrot set, on the other hand, may go on forever. The invention of the silicon chip in the 1970′s created a revolution in computers and communication and hence transformed our way of life. We are now seeing another revolution which is going to change our view of the universe and give us a better understanding of its’ working. This film will explore the fractal universe and on our voyage of discovery, we will be helped by: Professor Ian Stewart of the Mathematics Institute, University of Warwick, an author of over 100 published scientific works; Dr. Michael Barnsley, former professor of mathematics at Georgia Institute of Technology who received a 2.5 million dollar government grant in 1991 to develop a fractal image compression systems. Fractals: Hunting the Hidden Dimension 2008 Quote:Mysteriously beautiful fractals are shaking up the world of mathematics and deepening our understanding of nature. You may not know it, but fractals, like the air you breathe, are all around you. Their irregular, repeating shapes are found in cloud formations and tree limbs, in stalks of broccoli and craggy mountain ranges, even in the rhythm of the human heart. In this film, we takes viewers on a fascinating quest with a group of maverick mathematicians determined to decipher the rules that govern fractal geometry. For centuries, fractal-like irregular shapes were considered beyond the boundaries of mathematical understanding. Now, mathematicians have finally begun mapping this uncharted territory. Their remarkable findings are deepening our understanding of nature and stimulating a new wave of scientific, medical, and artistic innovation stretching from the ecology of the rain forest to fashion design. The documentary highlights a host of filmmakers, fashion designers, physicians, and researchers who are using fractal geometry to innovate and inspire. Also check out Fractals: The Colors of Infinity.

The Secret Life of Chaos - 2010: Quote:Chaos theory has a bad name, conjuring up images of unpredictable weather, economic crashes and science gone wrong. But there is a fascinating and hidden side to Chaos, one that scientists are only now beginning to understand. It turns out that chaos theory answers a question that mankind has asked for millennia – how did we get here? In this documentary, Professor Jim Al-Khalili sets out to uncover one of the great mysteries of science – how does a universe that starts off as dust end up with intelligent life? How does order emerge from disorder? It’s a mind-bending, counterintuitive and for many people a deeply troubling idea. PK Dick is to LSD as HP Lovecraft is to Mushrooms

Thanks guys James Burke: ConnectionsConnections explores an Alternative View of Change (the subtitle of the series) that rejects the conventional linear and teleological view of historical progress. Burke contends that one cannot consider the development of any particular piece of the modern world in isolation. Rather, the entire gestalt of the modern world is the result of a web of interconnected events, each one consisting of a person or group acting for reasons of their own (e.g., profit, curiosity, religious) motivations with no concept of the final, modern result of what either their or their contemporaries’ actions finally led to. The interplay of the results of these isolated events is what drives history and innovation, and is also the main focus of the series and its sequels. Psychedelic Science By Bill Eagles (1997)In the late 1960s, human experiments with psychedelic drugs were brought to a halt. Government reacted to the anarchy of the hippy counter-culture. The drug-crazed Charles Manson slayings came to symbolise public fear of the street use of LSD. Funding ceased, and the few researchers who battled on were ostracised. But lost in the blanket ban were remarkable research projects in the field of psychiatry that held out new hope for the treatment of schizophrenia and alcoholism. Bill Eagles' extraordinary film tells the story of a handful of dedicated scientists who have struggled to make psychedelic research respectable again. X-Ray EarthSimilar to the way doctors use X-rays to diagnose unseen medical problems, scientists are using an army of sensors located underground, in the sky, the ocean and our cities to monitor the Earth more than at any other time in our history. From the undisturbed far reaches of the planet to the busiest cities on the globe, X-RAY EARTH uses technology and CGI to give us a new view of our world. Paths through UtopiasPaths Through Utopias are trails drawn by realist dreamers, lucid idealists whose vision of a better world is not projected into an unreachable future but created every day, in the here and now. These paths are not motorways destroying forests to get to a pre-decided destination as fast and as straight as possible… they are trails following the valleys’ contours, tracing the rivers and desires of those who build them. Supermassive Black HolesIn June 2000, astronomers made an extraordinary discovery. One that promises to solve one of the biggest problems in cosmology – how and why galaxies are created. Incredibly, the answer involves the most weird, destructive and terrifying objects in the Universe – supermassive black holes. Scientists are beginning to believe that these forces of pure destruction actually help trigger the birth of galaxies and therefore are at the heart of the creation of stars, planets and all life. ______ Sean Carroll on the arrow of time (Part 1)In Part 1 of his lecture at the University of Sydney, cosmologist Sean Carroll gives an entertaining and thought-provoking talk about the nature of time, the origin of entropy, and how what happened before the Big Bang might be responsible for the arrow of time we observe today. I might have been linked through this site to some of these but its impossible to remember exactly where i get them half the time. The Spirit Molecule - 2010: THE SPIRIT MOLECULE weaves an account of Dr. Rick Strassman's groundbreaking DMT research through a multifaceted approach to this intriguing hallucinogen found in the human brain and hundreds of plants. Utilizing interviews with a variety of experts to explain their thoughts and experiences with DMT within their respective fields, and discussions with Strassman’s research volunteers brings to life the awesome effects of this compound, and far-reaching theories regarding its role in human consciousness . Several themes explored include possible roles for endogenous DMT; its theoretical role in near-death and birth experiences, alien-abduction experiences; and the uncanny similarities in Biblical prophetic texts describing DMT-like experiences. Our expert contributors offer a comprehensive collection of information, opinions, and speculation about indigenous use of DMT, the history and future of psychedelic research, and current DMT research. All this, to help us understand the nature of the DMT experience, and its role in human society and evolution. The subtle combination of science, spirituality, and philosophy within the film’s approach sheds light on an array of ideas that could considerably alter the way humans understand the universe and their relationship to it. Two things to keep in mind: 1) It is all lies. 2) There is no privacy on the Internet.
