Hello!
First, I want to thank you all for this great place. Really in-depth information on numerous issues.
I want to make my own extraction, applying Cyb's salt tek. My problem is that I can't find white distilled vinegar.
So my question is what other alternatives can i use for the acid soak?
I was told that i can use any acid whatsoever. For instance, can i use :
1. Apple Cider vinegar
2. Ascorbic Acid
I read in few threads that apple cider will result in really nasty taste in the spice. But i want to know?
If I can use Ascorbic Acid, can i dissolve it from Vitamin C pills, and is there any particular way to do that?
Its really confusing for me that White Distilled vinegar isn't available in any known commercial forms/products? And i don't want to order from foreign country.
So, overall, what are the alternatives i can use for the acid soak? Are there any other besides those two that i suppose?
Chrers! S

VM&P Naptha from Kleanstrip, the one everybody wants, contains 95-100% CAS 64742-49-0 Hydrotreated light naphtha (everybody can read it on their website MSDS.) Before you buy make sure you check the MSDS on manufacturers website. It should contain 100% CAS 64742-49-0 / EINECS 265-151-9.
All over the world its called Waschbenzin, Wundbezin, benzine, petroleum ether, cleaner's solvent or cleaner's naphtha..
Also I know that there are a lot of products on the market that contain almost 100% CAS 64742-49-0 but also 1-2%or less Hexane CAS 110-54-3. I dont think that would be a problem, but maybe someone can confirm that. Also I would do evaporation test before use - with all products - even if it says it contains pure product on the MSDS, to many idiots on responsible positions, batches can be contaminated with something you dont want.

Can I use methylated spirits as a solvent? It contains 95% v/v ethanol so I'm very hopeful. Will do an evap test soon The Universe is Breathing As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without ~ message from the divine

Does this look ok to use? As far as I can tell its mostly ethanol with some IPA. Evaporates clean. Quote:3. Hi people,
Does anyone has experience with apcpure.com? They offer d-limonene in europe for a good price. Unfortunately the place (mistral) where I used to order it from doesn't ship it anymore.
I'm a bit suspicious because they also sell benzaldehyde which to my knowing is a List I watched chemical. I thought to see more precursors on their site. It could be a phishing supplier.
If anyone know them or ordered from them please reply.

Thanks for replying. I'll place an order this week. They have some other chemicals (not the precursor ones) that i'm interested in and that are difficult to find in the Netherlands in the purity they provide,

DCM in Aus?
Oneeye yes you can use diggers methylated spirits its 95%ethanol5%water but do an evap test to check for poduction gunk..

Heptane can be used as a solvent to extract dmt yes. You can just evaporate it afterwards or better, freeze precipitate it, to yield your cleaner dmt
Poekus, I have ordered from apcpure before without any problem, including their limonene.

I have a question that seems like it probably belongs here. I am wondering, is there any benefit to using ACS reagent-grade petroleum ether rather than good ol' hardware store VM&P? I do an evaporation test on every new jug of VM&P, just to be safe, and it has never left anything behind. I also wonder about ACS reagent-grade heptane versus Benzine. Something about using industrial-grade, hardware store solvents doesn't quite sit right with me. I continue to use them for the time being, but ideally I would like to strictly use ACS reagent-grade solvents and chemicals. I do not actually have any evidence that there would be any significant advantage to using lab-grade solvents that would justify spending 5-8 times as much money, aside from perhaps some peace of mind. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?

Where can I find naphta in Spain? I've looked in a DIY store but I found nothing, only those things to recharge lighters. Does anyone know product names of naphta here? Thanks! “The urge to transcend self-conscious selfhood is, as I have said, a principal appetite of the soul.”

Does dilute hydrochloric acid react with acetone without a catalyst? i'm working on a mescaline extraction/purification tek exploiting the difference in solubility between mescaline freebase and mescaline HCL, and can't find much literature on the subject. I want to make sure there isn't a risk of forming peroxides or perchlorates. What i have found suggests it would be safe, but it's always best to make sure.

Thanks! Can you not find Zippo lighter fluid? Maybe, but not in my city. I'll order it through internet as it is not really expensive. Thanks for the answer! “The urge to transcend self-conscious selfhood is, as I have said, a principal appetite of the soul.”

SWIM made his first batch a month ago using Noman's Tek and infused all of it into changa. He says the product works and he's confident in his process but is wondering on the purity of it beacuse there was some throat and lung irritation with a mild head-ache the day after. For the STB Tek, he used 99.23% pure NAOH as his base: http://www.voyageursoapa...um_Hydroxide_p/62190.htmFor pulls he used Coleman Camp Fuel -evap'd clean. For his re-X / infusion into changa he used Acetone by the "Recochem" company. -evap'd clean From what he's perused on the forum and his visual analysis of the spice itself, it seems clean. But when he re-x'd the spice, he accidentally used WAY more acetone than recommended... Still, he left the changa to evap for over 1 week before giving it a test-run. It might be worth noting that he re-disolved the spice but mixed the changa herbs in at the same time. Not sure if that would change anything compared to doing a clean re-x and then making changa. Does anything stand out as a big NO for anybody?

The only side reaction I can think of is an "aldol condensation", involving acetone reacting with itself, catalyzed by hydrochloric acid. However, this shouldn't be much of a factor as long as you're not boiling it for prolonged times while exposing to strong sunlight. Also, acids are much weaker catalysts for the aldol reaction than bases. There shouldn't be an issue unless the mix stands for extended time at elevated temperatures. Plus, the primary products of self-condensed acetone are volatile enough to evaporate quickly from your end product. As to your fears regarding the formation of peroxides and perchlorates: highly to totally unlikely. In any case: never mix acetone and hydrogen peroxide, especially mixed a with mineral acid like hydrochloric. That would be very^H^H^H^Hextremely dangerous! But I see no mention of any hydrogen peroxide.
