If you mean as non-polar solvent for the common teks, no, it is not. Acetone would pull more things than you want to pull.

Depends on the composition of the paint thinner. The naphtha used for extractions is composed of aliphatic hydrocarbons (hexane, heptane... decane, undecane) so any mixture of these will be suitable if it evaporates cleanly.

I picked up some Equate brand Epsom Salts assuming I could use them for drying acetone.

However I can not find an msds for them and there is no mention on the box if it is magnesium sulphate or what.

If anyone can find the msds (or knows of a place that I can find it) or can comment on the effectiveness of Equate brand Epsom salts being used to dry acetone, that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

is the arco brand of d-limonene ok to use?

it states on the label d-limonene aliphate hydrocarbon solvent blend.

does this mean it is not pure d-limonene?

thanks

(DONT USE NOT PURE)

Hey guys, does anybody here know where to get Naptha in Canada? I know Escort Camp Fuel was the preferred solvent before, but it has been discontinued recently Sad I have been using Ronsonol lighter fluid, with good results, but something strikes me funny about using lighter fluid for some reason. Fellow Canadian Nexians, please help! Razz

Hey Bud, I live in Ontario and if you've got a Canadian Tire near you pick up some Coleman Camping Fuel, comes in a red metal can should be about $20.
Hope it helps.

The Coleman camping fuel has a rust inhibitor, don't use that. Ronsonol is a better choice.

Tap water is fine, purer is also fine if you prefer..Thumbs up
(any impurities in water won't transfer to the non polar solvent)

You confirming that Clova thinner should be suitable? Thanks

Also i happened to see escort camp fuel at canadian tire today. However i have never seen it at another CT store, perhaps this particular store just has some old stock or is still stocking it.

No sorry, was commenting on the water.
No idea of Canadian solvents, I just use zippo type lighter fluid. Coleman's has been used to good effect too

Is this a good solvent to use in Cyb's Hybrid ATB 'Salt' Tek?

Composition:
~100% complex mixture of saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons mainly C7 and C8
<2,5% aromatic hydrocarbons (less than 0,1% benzene)
<1,5% unsaturated hydrocarbons

I wonder if Coleman Fuel 1l bottle (http://www.spiritburner.com/fusion/fbbuploads/1311876420-Coleman_Fuel_PET.jpg) contains the rust inibitor. It appears like clear liquid with no dye. If the rust inhibitor is in it, it could be detected with the solvent test? Can it be separated in some way from the solvent? Can a re-x with pure heptane remove it from the yield? thank you for answers to any of the questions

I wonder if this acetone is ok to extract salvinorum and to clean my GVG and maybe make changa with what my pipe residue.

The brand is ONYX professional 100% Acetone. BUT when I look in the ingredients it says; Acetone, Denatonium Benzoate.

Thank you.

Does anyone know if it would be okay to use lime for the final basing when using Tao of rue extraction? The lime I have is "pickling lime" so it should be food safe.
