My DMT-Fumarate turning to goo? Options

It seems its acting polymorphously. I have never known it to do this and has always remain as a crystal.

At first after precipitation it formed beautiful clear crystals an then turned to goo just like freebase does. Made sure it was water soluble and yes it is.

Anyone else had goo problems with their fumarates?

Do plastic residues form fumarates?

If there was any water, i can imagine fumarates redissolving. Did you try spreading it out in a glass dish and scraping/rescraping and giving it time to see if it hardens up/ crystallizes again?

Sorry my own experience is that it remains pretty solid. Upon that step of combining the Spice solution + FASA you should never evaporate it, but decant it.

When evaporation is done you will cool down your solution meanwhile and drag a lot of water in it, thus you will get a sticky stuff even though your goodies were nicely crystalline when they repcipitated.

But ... I dont think this is relevant here.

So when they are completely dry after removing / decanting the acetone I never heard of them turning into goo.

Maybe convert back and forth again? Would be some work, but maybe you feel better with it when storing.

I've had some do the same thing before, even with drying in the oven It pulled water from the air.

Mine has done this as well from high humidity, it may not be pretty but will still store just as well!

Thanks for the replies guys, I managed to dry my goo by rubbing it with a tiny amount of acetone and leaving it for a while, then working the crystal with my finger down to a powder, then pour off and evaporate the acetone to make sure there was no more crystal and see what it was, it was oily residue (doesnt smell like dmt). Must of have been from excess from the xylene pull.

I also let another batch of goo untouched to dry up on its own and did significantly over about a week, so i think you are all very on the money also. Usually it never crystallizes in such beautiful lattices but more small ball like hard crystals. Anyway thanks for the help.

Better store directly inside a container with de-humidizer (lol I do not know the english name ....) and then you won't have to worry!

It's DESICCANT Thumbs up

Yes that's how I store the powder - I always throw in little bag with silica gel. They are sold on eBay. A tiny packet will do - 0.5 grams or so for a small container.

My turned from off-white to light brown, but remains as dry powder.

Interesting, why is that you think? After many years of storage in a corked jar mine went from light brown to having patches of black (i though it was mold), so i put it in the oven at 300 degrees and the whole lot of it turned black and oily. Then it dried in to black crystal again.
