It was only a matter of time; bad news for Hawaii acacia bark Options

I reported on damage taking place to trees a while back, and now it has become mainstream in Hawaii because they are now harvesting in highly utilized public parks. Don't be surprised if the supply dries up or disappears, as there is talk of banning harvesting, and making selling and possession of root bark illegal. And given how this state works, don't put it past them to implement some type of eradication program, as the tree is listed as invasive.
