I am not looking to get flamed by asking this - just want a clean, safe, extraction -
Do these materials seem to be appropriate/extraction safe?

Naphtha: vm & p naphtha 800

Pickling lime is used for food, so it's safe.

Lye: ComStar Drain Opener
Find food safe lye....drain cleaner will almost always have additives.

Not flaming, but Google is your friend. It would have taken you the same amount of time to look up the MSDS as anyone else.

Thanks - sorry hadn't even thought to google for the MSDS - just didn't know if anyone would know off hand about the safety of these materials specifically - or could reccommend different brands, etc.

ComStar seems safe anyway, those additives won't play any role in the extraction and won't end up in the spice. And they're sodium chloride and carbonate, so hell, it's food safer than lye.

Comments by SGSMP are fantastic fabrications.

Thats useful. My friend's been using drain cleaner, and ending up with a relatively pure product but needs to do a recrystal before he feels comfortable with it.
