Hello to everyone. It's been a few months since i started smoking commercial tobacco again. A few days ago i acquired a Mapacho Roll. Immediately i made a smoking mix consisting of 1/3 Mapacho, 1/3 Lemon Balm/m, 1/3 Hops. Smokes nice. Thinking about combinations with other herbs as well. Next step is to try this herbal mix in my vaporizer.
Other than that i am thinking about making a tea (in fact i made one, adding 80 mg of Mapacho). Now, i read that pure Nicotine can kill someone in doses of 30-60 mg (closer to 60). Estimating that Rustica contains ~9% Nicotine, i made a tea of ~10 mg Nicotine. Does anyone here have consistent experiences with Mapacho in tea form?

I wouldn't do it at all, personally. I do like a mapacho cigar before and/or after a journey, but I just don't find ingesting nicotine enticing. Yes, it can kill you. To me I just wouldn't play around with it. If you do so, please be very careful.

Actually, according to this scientific source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3880486/ ~500 mg oral nicotine would kill a person. Oral Nicotine has a half life of 2 hours, absorption through oral route is ~20% according to the same source i posted. I consumed 2 teas today containing Nicotiana Rustica. One with Lemon Balm+80 mg Nicotiana and 2 hours later a tea with 3 grams Guayusa+100 mg Nicotiana. With the second tea i got very energized and grounded. For sure Guyayusa contributed to this.

Calculating Nicotiana has ~9% Nicotine content and estimating 20% absorption through oral, i got about 2 mg Nicotine orally with the first tea. 80/9=9, 9/5=1,8%. After 2 hours i had another 2,5 mg Nicotine orally that way if calculations are right. In any case those are really small amounts to do any harm. I do not endorse anyone to try it, my calculations may be more or less off, not all Nicotiana contains the same amounts of nicotine. Mine oozes nicotine, seems really powerful stuff. I will have to look into nicotine's metabolite, cotinine which has a half life of 18-20 hours.

It does sound like you're being careful about it, so good on ya. Even though I do enjoy the tobacco spirit, I've never had the urge to ingest it.

Yeah, for sure i want to be careful with something that can kill in the mg scale! I find it very good, i drink 1-2 teas with ~150 mg Mapacho every day. And my cigarette consumption has gone from 15 to 4-5 cigarettes. Looking for ways to find a herbal mix consisting 30% of Mapacho which will have the taste i like. So far 1/3 Mapacho, 1/3 Lemon Balm, 1/3 Hops is good. CBD buds are going to play nice in the mix too i suppose. Raw cacao beans is another thing i like to combine with Mapacho.

Hey Locoboy, I have quite a bit of experience with oral an intranasal Mapacho liquid and feel confident to share my experience on the ways of using this great medicine.
As in your case i found myself relapsing many times into a tobacco addiction and actually the only thing that has help me staying smoke free is eating one 2mg nicotine longizene one every two or three days, I do a lot of artistic work and without some nicotine in my system my concentration levels decrease drastically, i know is stupid.
I didn't found the Mapacho liquid to help me quit smoking as it provides a very different experience, but i indeed found it really therapeutic.
It all started years ago in the Ecuadorian amazon, I spend some time with the Quishua tribe and they took this liquid for many ailments, praising its power as an antibiotic and anti-parasite. The traditional way of doing it is putting the mapacho in a small gore (you can use a shot glass or small glass) and filling it up to the level of the tobacco with warm water (start with cold water for your first trial) and is let to step overnight. The next morning a small amount of the liquid if loaded into a birds peak (you can use a spoon, please start with little liquid on your first trials) and is taken by mouth and/or drink through the nose and swallowed. I prefer the nose route as the effects come faster and the experience tends to be more intense and clears the sinuses pretty good. As you can read they do not measure doses the main indication is to ad water up to the level of tobacco in the cup. As you are a usual nicotine user your tolerance should help you not to be over powered with the experience, it is a somewhat risky practice so please be very conservative with your dosses until figuring out how you react to it.
At time i have done this daily with no ill effects, expect maybe some nausea and lost of coordination at higher etheogenic doses. Please be very careful is a beautiful medicine but it needs to be treated with upmost respect. It will make you dizzy but at the same time provide a nice stimulation (more so than smoking) and it will kill bugs through out your system, this is common practice in the jungle. Hope this info helps you!

I forgot to mention, keep water handy as if you get an uncomfortable level of throat bubbling drinking a litter of water makes it fade away. Also don't drink any coffee before doing it, it potentiates the body load and nausea.
Also smoking mapacho might be somewhat healthier than shitty commercial tobacco, but it is still very detrimental if used daily and will aggravate nicotine addiction due to its high content of nicotine and harmala alkaloids. I tried this route just to feel better about the smoke i was inhaling and really just got me more hooked when I had already reduced my consumption of commercial tobacco.

Hello Kenke...Smile Your insight is very helpful! I like nicotine as a nootropic to be honest, i also use it in a somewhat creative context among the rest! Your story with the Quisha tribe is very interesting, what an experience it must have been! I want to hear more sometime if you would like to share Smile.

I still haven't tried the nose route of administrating the medicine. Today i will try what you suggested the way you put it! Also thinking about making a rape with it, found instructions on the subject here in the forum. The way you suggest of sniffing it seems more gentle on the sinuses. Yesterday with the second cup of Guayusa+raw cacao beans i got shaky and a little nausea but both went away after eating.

I am more inclined to make herbal mixes where Mapacho will be at most 30% of the blend or less. And the ideal would be to vape it, i have got a cheap vaporizer too but it does not satisfy me too much (not for weed, not for anything else). With a vaporizer like Mighty of the Volcano brand things would be better i supopose.Gotta admit i like the rolling papers and behavioral addiction plays a role too i guess. Look into sprays as an alternative to longezene if you want.
Also checked into cotinine, the active metabolite of nicotine. Apparently it is well tolerated and has been tested with success in animal experiments helping with PTSD, depression, Schizophrenia and other mental illnesses.

Ever since i made my first post i continue drinking mapacho tea, daily i drink 3 teas or less. Each tea contains about 400 mg of mapacho. Good stimulation that lasts ~2 hours, for sure it enhanced the reading process for lessons of my university and it is good for waking up in the morning too. I combine it with llex guayusa in the mornings, not every morning.
I now smoke 2-3 light mapacho cigarettes daily and i avoid commercial tobacco. I like smoking mapacho but it's heavy on the lungs and i will replace it with smoking lemon balm. I harvested some organic lemon balm from my garden and i like it a lot.

Im really glad it work nicely for you Locoboy! It is indeed a great medicine. As long as your stomach is not getting upset it is also pretty safe in tolerated doses , also keeps your digestive track bug-free! Have you tried higher doses or intranasal use of liquid by now? Sorry i have taken this long to reply, im currently on a backpack trip in Asia but sure i would love to share more of my experience in the jungle with you as soon as i get back to my place and have the time to write it out!

Also I saw you mention making blends with cacao, avoid the seeds as they are pretty high in fats that are not nice to smoke, but the seed husk does create a great stimulating chocolte tasting smoke!

Hello Kenke nice to be hearing again from you! My stomach is not getting upset at all, i continue trying the tea with success, especially when i have a lots of stuff to do Smile. Llex Guayusa, Nicotiana, L-Theanine in tea is a nice combination for me! Or coffee+L-Theanine+smaller dose Nicotiana. I have not tried the liquid, i will make some per your instructions right now Smile. Haha i was just testing Nicotiana with cacao in liquid form or eating the seeds raw along with it, not smoking it Razz. You gave me such a nice idea about the seed husks, wow i had not thought about it, nice!!

You seem to be living an adventurous life, full of trips to exotic places! I would love to know more about your trips for sure Smile . I wish you to have a great time, meet beautiful people, do exciting things Smile.
