Thanks guys. I'm thinking of trying a small dose of mushrooms first. Maybe around 0.5g to start. That way I can see how I'll react to a psychedelic without having too much. If I'm okay with that, then I'll try a little more and eventually move my way up to DMT. Of course, I have to find a place to get it lol.
I appreciate everyone's help. I'll definitely report back once I have my first experience.

I appreciate everyone's help. I'll definitely report back once I have my first experience. Even though i would proceed differently, it is most important that you feel comfortable with the approach. A small mushroom dose should be very doable and is not a bad idea. It will give you a quite incomplete picture though, but its nothing to be afraid of. Safe journeys!

I agree with obliguhl. Nothing can really prepare you for DMT, and messing with slightly altered states of mind is possible to cause tension imho. I had been doing psychedelics for 20 years before I tried it and I wasn't ready. If you want it, just do it. Or don't. The nearest we ever come to knowing truth is when we are witness to paradox.

Mushrooms might be ideal since the trip has relatively short duration.
The advantage of LSD in smaller dose (say 50-150 micrograms) is that you have more control hence can stay comfortable.
Low Dose LSD i found really unnerving to the point where i never touched it again. The low (not micro) doses of almost any psychedelic will do that for you. LSD may be a bit worse because of it's stimulating effects. It's that sorta half in/half out feeling that is pretty annoying. You cannot realy enjoy the full effects of it, yet you can't ignore it and get on with your everyday busines either. DMT is not bad to start with. Given the fact that you have no experience with other psychedelics, except weed, you are probably less afraid than most of us here. Now thinking about it by low dose I meant something more towards 150 micrograms, not less than 100 mcg. But it depends on the sensitivity and even the lower threshold can be too much for some people. My first dose was 150 mcg and it was just right. I was in love immediately and actually like the stimulating effects... but everyone is different. Perfect first-time trip cannot be ensured unfortunately.

I know you're not doctors (well maybe some of you are lol), but is there any danger in combining DMT or mushrooms with an SSRI and benzo? I've been prescribed them for years for my anxiety and depression and they help well. I have no problem stopping them for a week or more prior to taking my first trip.

Since Serotonin competes with the actives in mushrooms and DMT to bind on certain receptors, SSRIs are probably bound to dull the experience. Benzos are a matter of discussion but they probably don't stop a trip. Make sure to not take any maoi containing plants such as peganum harmala or banisteriopsis caapi since this can be life threatening if taken with an SSRI.

As someone who also dislikes marijuana, I don't recommend starting at too low a dose. The body load combined with feelings of vague dissociation are not that comfortable or enjoyable for me. I dosed in this order: 10 > 15 > 20 > 20+ mg's and the lower doses made me more uncomfortable than those of 20 and above. There really isn't that much to fear in the under 30 range, at least in the experience of myself and my fiance. Bizarre, intense, outrageously goofy at times, but nothing to fear. My fiance has had visions of a giant leach on her neck, giant ants rolling her across hyperspace to meet the mother ant... things that sound scary when you're sober, but out there, you don't really feel fear the same way. You'll be fine.
