Surprised
what? where does this idea come from?
why do you think cocaine is an MAOI?

Both can be very intense, but most people won't dare to eat enough mushrooms to rival the intensity of a normal dmt freebase dose.

mg for mg, psilocybin is the more potent of the two, in my experience. The tryptamines in psilocybes seem to be similar in dose to 5-MeO-DMT. The experience between DMT and psilocybin is extremely similar. I really like both of them, and they combine well.

The experience of the mushrooms might be somewhat more animated. The differences are hard to talk about. They are easier to compare orally, in a brew or pharma type mixture with harmine/harmaline. In that context, psilocybin in a brew is no less intense or deep as DMT in a brew. It lasts longer.
Long live the unwoke.

I look forward to being comfortable enough with smoked/vaped and oral DMT to combine it with mushrooms or other psychedelics. It will probably be a few years because I'm taking this very slow, but I'm encouraged to hear good reports!

It is hard to compare - how would you measure "intensity" anyway?

As per affinity to receptors, psilocybin is objectively slightly stronger. However, different people may have different subjective experiences.

ROA plays a great role too - consuming x amount of mushrooms and injecting corresponding amount of pure psilocybin is a very different story. Also people reported very strong, overwhelming experiences from plugging DMT even though they were already experienced to vaporizing.

I got profound experiences from both mushrooms and DMT and a really like to combine them as they go together very well.

I love to take DMT on mushrooms as it is like the mushrooms guide the experience nicely instead of just breaking into hyperspace.

For me oral DMT has been by far the more intense, especially due to it's Adrenergic properties, whereas up to 5 grams of mushrooms or 50mgs of 4-ACO-DMT has been far gentler, still powerful but nowhere near as intense as even a low dose of oral DMT. Psilocin seems gentler/more relaxed, DMT seems more intense and serious, though i'm sure Psilocin can get pretty serious in higher dosages which i will one day get into.

Regarding intensity, my strongest experience was from PC mycelium with a lot of primordia and small shrooms. The dose was unknown, but it was huge. After another strong experiences, I estimate it to be somewhere about 15g of dried PC. But with shrooms hard to tell, I experinced zero effect from 4g dried and next morning blast off from the same dosage. It happened just once, but this is just extreme case showing there is more players in the game than just the dosage.
Dmt can be very intensive too, of course. I am not using it by oral ROA, but by rectal. With extreme dosage, minimizing MAOI, maximizing dmt effects. Always targeting full immersion. The hyperspace is just one hour. With oral shrooms it was more hours, so maybe this the reason psilocybin was felt "stronger".
The difference between those two in terms of difference of effects is much more visible with lower dosage. The higher it is, the more they are similar to me.
Acceptance of the fact that our reality is not real doesn't in fact mean it is not real. It just leads to better understanding what real means.
