Hey, I was just wondering what's the best method to wash extracted spice. I've used the ammonia (10% janitorial strength) method in the past, but have since read that it causes more harm than good. I thought I remembered reading that using sodium carbonate instead of ammonia is a better way to go - any info. on how to best wash/clean my spice?
I plan on cold-filtering, but not re-crystallizing ...

Never use ammonia you are just losing spice (damn outdated info). Wash your freebase in non-polar with 10% by volume sodium carbonate solution. The ph of the solution will be around 9-10 and as a result all your precious spice will stay safe and get a little bath in the process.
