No, there's an upcoming kickstarter campaign.

How it works imo: REM detection -> transcranial alternating current stimulation @ 25 hz or 40 hz.

The depicted phones on the site look like Android phones to me. Would be stupid to only target a niche market by only supporting iPhones.

I hope they will act more professional than the iWinks folks:

I wonder if there are any times other than lucid dreaming where these frontal lobe gamma actives are prone to arise. Such as during subjective astral travel or hyperreal imagination spaces. There's been times during floating where from my perspective an (albeit low res and frame hopping glitchy one) imagined space-time environment complete with sensual stimuli and body kinetics is realised reminiscent of vividly aware dreaming. I'd like a button at that particular point to blast myself into a full technicolor, 200fps lucid dreamlike state.
Inconsistency is in my nature.

I found an interview with the producers of this device:

I am interested in this just because the idea of affecting perception/mindfulness so drastically with just a couple of electrodes is like a dream come true (loooool) and I'd like to think that if this technology works we'd be able to apply it to waking life. But these devices have been around for a while and there doesn't seem to be any meaningful progression.

In my experience, even having a conversation during the day about dreams or lucid dreams is enough to trigger a lucid dream that night. So spending money on a device that supposedly causes lucid dreams might operate on the same principle. Getting psyched to have a lucid dream could just cause a lucid dream in itself. I've tried binaural beats and such, but honestly a dream journal is the only thing that's ever gotten me out of an LD dry spell, probably by virtue of just making you think more about your dreams.

From the paper:

Our results provide, to the best of our knowledge, the first causal evidence of frequency-specific cortical oscillations in humans induced by tACS.

You mean devices that uses REM detection via measurements of the eye movement and giving cues via LEDs. The new devices are completely different, they use EEG REM detection and insights from 2014 papers. But yes, I want to believe, too. How good the EEG REM detection works, IDK. That's for us to find out.

Sure, the placebo effect is strong. But there's a correlation with certain brain activity, too. Lucid dreamers have a bigger Brodmann area 10. So keeping a dream journal trains your memory and thus your BA10. Also Alzheimer meds aka nootropics aka cholinergic drugs influence memory and lucid dreams.

Quote:
Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin and the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich have discovered that the brain area which enables self-reflection is larger in lucid dreamers. Thus, lucid dreamers are possibly also more self-reflecting when being awake.

The researchers further want to know whether metacognitive skills can be trained. In a follow-up study, they intend to train volunteers in lucid dreaming to examine whether this improves the capability of self-reflection.

Also interesting:

Quote:
A functional neuroimaging review of meditation-based practices suggested that practicing mindfulness enhances prefrontal activation, which was noted to be correlated with increased well-being and reduced anxiety;[43] however, the review noted the need for cohort studies in future research to better establish this.[43]

https://en.wikipedia.org...ex#Clinical_significance

Quote:
The main findings of the study showed that participants who reported having prior meditation experience also reported higher lucid dream frequency, with approximately 4.28 vs 2.55 lucid dreams per month. Further, those having meditation experience also reported higher FMI mindfulness scores.

Quote:
The findings of the online survey (N= 528) indicate that there is a relationship between spirituality and dream recall, possibly mediated by mindfulness skills. Two factors might explain this relationship: First, dreams can provide spiritual inspiration and, second, spiritual practices like meditation can increase dream recall.

Okay, the new KS page says 85% accuracy, that's 85 out of 100 REM phases, if they don't lie. The whole thing seems credible to me, backed the Pro version.

That looks like a really interesting approach, but it does also seem that they do not know how reliable the detection works. 600$ for being a "crowd researcher" is a bit too steep for me. But i would be very interested in hearing your experience.

I recon 600$ for lucid dreams on command wouldn't be too much.

It's a trade-off. I'm not willing to pay €733 when I can get the same for €433. Also if nobody backs the project then nobody gets anything. I think a 85% lucid chance is good enough for me.

True. If you can really practice and improve skills with it then the device finances itself quickly.
