As we know, the VP of DMT is appr. 58°C, after which it evaporates so my question is this - during the basifying step, when I mix the alkaline solution full of DMT with a non-polar solvent in my separatory funnel, may I expect that the lower half of the funnel (which has the alkaline solution) put in the somewhat hot water (up to 70°C) can evaporate a certain amount of DMT, which may get absorbed by the non-polar solvent in the funnel?

The boiling point of DMT is NOT 58 celcius, where did you get that from?
DMT won't evap in under 100c unless in reduced pressure. There is no DMT loss when adding lye to a DMT containing solution.

I feel really stupid, I misread the info about DMT on wiki, it was the melting point, not the evaporation. No, what I meant was I originally thought that reaching 58c DMT evaporates in the solution it's currenty in and since the alkaline solution is heavier than a solvent, the evaporated DMT reaches the solvent and gets absorbed by it. So it seems that without some stirring and gentle shaking DMT won't get in contact with the solvent. Does it mean that I can fan my solvent the hell out and not worry about the lower yield? I know that some DMT my oxidize, but I've got plenty zinc powder, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Yes if you don't mind loosing solvent once you've done your pulls you can evap using fan just be safe about it. I've seen in the past oxide which has formed in the solvent; it appeared to me to be some kind of oil it was not soluble the way the rest was. Almost like a few drops of water mixed in with oil & Endlessness any chance you know of a dmt phase diagram lying around ?

This post got me wondering about the physics of all this, could you potentially do some kind of distillation of freebased dmt right out of the base mixture with enough heat and some crazy equipment? "If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe." Carl Sagan

The crazy equipment being breathing apparatus? Why waste energy, turning your lungs into soap in the process? OP, Brownian Motion will ensure your spice finds your solvent at a temperature you can all handle without distress...70C is fine. “I sometimes marvel at how far I’ve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: “are all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?” For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.” ― B.G.
