Hi I wanted to do an extraction I have a few questions on a tek.

I want to do and acacia confusa extraction. I was looking at a tek but it was for a KG. I only want to do about a 200G run. No my question isn't can I scale down, I'm well aware I can. So, in the tek it calls for a gallon jar, Would I no longer need a gallon jar? Would I be able to use a couple smaller jars if one isn't to be found? Also a GALLON of naptha?! holy crap that's a lot is that much really necessary its like $3 for 140ml, I can see that being pretty expensive! Also, about the glass baster would I be able to (yes I know it would take a while) use a little glass eye dropper similar to one you would find in e-juice (for vaping) Its the only glass baster type thing I have kind of trying to spend the least possible here! thanks in advance guys!

Do two x (100g) and use 1 litre bottles for each.
You can run them simultaneously. Wink

Exactly what I was looking to hear. Its actually around 250g. Could the 1 quart jars still work?
How much naptha do you think I would need?

See mine and EW's tek HERE if you're using ACRB.

I would do a 100g run first...then when you're sure about the process ..do the rest. (amounts for 150g will stay the same)

Cyb i've been successful using yours and EW's teks but I'm about to do a 500g extraction, what ratios should I now use, i've also got a 2 litre and a 5 litre glass bottle, which would be best for that amount. Thanks

You could do a 500g in a 5 litre bottle.
As for ratios...I don't work with them.
If you have some pH papers it will make it a whole lot easier. Wink

That's a lot of spice...why so much?

Cheers cyb, Yeah I've got some ph papers I'll see what I can do, it's for me and my friends im the only one that will do or knows how to do the extraction, so once I've done it I'll share it with them plus it saves me keep doing 100g extractions especially with being busy with work

Use 1ml of naphtha per gram of root bark used Wink

NO !!... see this is why ratios don't work...

If you do this and you have 500g bark...you would use 500ml of naphtha...utter madness..

So...ignore all the ratios that you see around here. They are outdated and incorrect rough guides only.

You need enough water to make it loose and watery (not viscous)
You need enough acid to bring the pH to 4 (or below)
You need enough alkaline (base) to bring the pH to 11.5 (or above)
You need enough naphtha to be able to pull easily (minimum 30ml / maximum 80ml) regardless of the amount of water/bark
(30ml of warm naphtha will hold/solute 1g of spice with ease.) so more than that is overkill for a pull.

That's all you need to know.

Ohhhh so that's why the shape of the bottle is important, a thinner neck means 30-80ml of naphtha will be more accessible from the top.

Cyb what do you think about using hdpe or another type of plastic if you can't find a certain size glass bottle

I would never use it...Wine/Juice bottles exist in every country.

If you need a large bottle 5L glass carboys can be found online via home brew shops for beer/wine.

If you do not want to order online the largest container you will find would probably be a large glass jug of wine with a handle.

I can find them but it's trying to find one with a screw top lid and the neck of the bottle being a decent size to get the naphtha out/ bark in ect, some times I use shredded bark and freeze and thaw

Cyb just seen a post from a few years ago regarding solvents, how did you get on with tetrosyl panel wipe, do you still use it or use something else now

Never used the tetrosyl in the end...but would do...it's clean fresh naphtha.
I use Heptane or good old lighter fluid (Swan)
