Mixed up the steps for Cyb/EW tek Options

I reference Cyb and EW because I kinda hybridized the two teks, and I learned a great deal just studying Cyb's Max Ion tek. Anyway, the only tweak is using less water for 100g of acacia, because I'm using a smaller bottle than EW.

1. So I ended up accidentally adding the 80g salt before the 60ml white vinegar. Is this okay?

2. I measured the PH of the vinegar and it was around 2.5, as expected. However when I measured the 100g acacia soup + vinegar + salt, it was more like a PH of 5. Should I add more vinegar? Or is it because I'm measuring it after I incorporated the salt? Usually the PH is measured BEFORE the salt is added. Unfortunately, I already added the salt, which may have diluted the PH. Let me know how I can solve this.

3. This made me wonder, what is the point of the acid? Is it to help break down the root bark? I read Cyb's explanation in his max ion tek, but I'm still unclear on it. It just says it'll help the "lysing" process. So basically, it's gonna help when you add the lye? How? Aren't you adding the lye to neutralize the acid?

Lyse means to tear open. The acid will help tear open the cells walls of the plant material and let your spice flow. Adding the salt before the vinegar is no big deal. IMHO you should add a little more vinegar and get your PH where it's supposed to be.

Don't worry, you haven't screwed up anything yet. Laughing

Should I add more vinegar, or should I just go ahead and see how it affects the yield? 'Cause if I add more vinegar, I'll have to add more lye, I imagine.

Also, can I just add lye to the bottle of ACRB soup and let it sit over night? Or would the bottle explode from pressure buildup?

I hate to say this, but your question was answered and from these new ones all i can suggest is that you read more and get a better grasp of what you're doing.Thumbs up

I've read and re-read Q21, EW and Cyb's (both salt and Max Ion) teks. There's nothing more I can gain from reading those, in regards to whether lye will explode the bottle in a resting state.

I know the lye will build pressure when shaking, but I won't get to do the pulling part for a few days. Figured I'd add the lye early on if it'll break down the DMT more.

I've asked around, and one person has kept their lye soup in a bottle for two months without the bottle breaking. The rest are uncertain. Figured I'd get some opinions from the Nexus.

Lye won't explode...(does it explode when you are cleaning your drains?)

If you are worried about pressure ... just loosen the lid ... it's not rocket science here.

If you are unsure...just stick to the teks and don't go 'off plan' ... we write them so you don't have to think. Wink

I know. I tend to ask a lot of questions and hypotheticals. It's just how I am.

Thanks cyb, as always.

Why wait to do your pulls? Basification and three pulls takes barely an hour or two to complete. If you've soaked in acid-water already the lye will break things down pretty quickly. Of course everyone works at their own pace and indeed slow for the first time is good but the less time you leave your little science experiment lying around the better.

Because the freezer is full at the moment, and I'm waiting for my roommates to leave for the weekend so I can freeze-precip. I also don't know what a mess it'll cause in the kitchen since it's the first time. It's more of a convenience thing, I guess.

From the Attitude Section

No unsafe extraction settings and procedures

We are against people extracting or using substances in student dorms/parents/shared houses or any other unsafe place or where the owners or roommates do not agree with what is being done. We do not give tips on 'stealth' teks. Do not do it unless the owner of the place accepts his/her full responsibility for the actions being done. If you don't have such a place to extract now, be patient, many have waited years and years for the right moment.

No, they all know what I'm doing. They're actually very fascinated. But I'd prefer to do it when five other people aren't going in and out of the kitchen area.
