Greetings! I have been lurking in this forum for years but I think now I know enough to be a regular member of the forums so I registered
I'm not sure if I should wait until I'm a member to post something like this, but I'll give it a try.
So SWIM (not sure if you guys use this term over here) has experimented with DMT extraction for about 2 years. At first the Naphta/NaOH was swim's choice, but the results were never very satisfactory, so a new method was in order. Swim then decided for a D-limonene/sodium carbonate tek (100g MHRB + 100g sodium carbonate + 200 ml of d-limonene. Swim let it sit for 2 days and then pulled the DMT out with vinegar) and see what happens.
The first extraction was perfect, swim was able to produce a strong DMT acetate. A week ago swim made more, but there were significant differences and I have a few questions...
1. There's a step in this tek when the vinegar starts to come out clean because there's no more dmt left in the d-limonene. However, it didn't happen this time. Swim poured 50 ml of vinegar about 10 times before giving up, but the vinegar would still come out like it had dmt in it, not clear at all. Is it possible that it's all DMT or something didn't go right? On my first attempt swim did 3 vinegar pulls and could see the vinegar was clear on the last one (although a little less root bark was used on the first time, and swim also included the plant's fibers, so that could be a reason).
2. Swim put all the vinegar in a dish and it has been evaporating in front of a fan for 8 days. An emulsion formed on top of the vinegar right at the beggining, with some bubbles underneath (if I touch it with my finger it doesn't get wet with the vinegar). Should swim be concerned and try to eliminate this emulsion?
