Hey there!
I realise this post belongs in the Ethnobotanical forum, but I am unable to post there currently! Hopefully this changes soon
I have been trying to grow A.Floribunda, A Acuminata (Narrow Variety) and A.Acuminata.
My Floribundas have taken off and are looking healthy as ever. However, my A.Acuminata seedlings of both varieties are not looking too good at all...
I have a couple of questions that I would LOVE answered! First of all some background. I have them potted in normal seedling potting mix that I got from the local plant store. They are growing on my windowsill getting a large amount of sunlight each day and are watered daily. They are growing in Auckland conditions which I guess are somewhat similar to Melbourne but not quite as hot or quite as cold in winter...
Here are my questions!
1: How fast should A.Acuminata seedlings grow? Mine are maybe 1 inch tall and have between 2-6 little branches coming off them.
2: They seemed to grow rather fast for the first three weeks. Now they seem rather stagnant? Any reason for slowing growth?
3: They all seem to be getting a weird white fuzzy coating on their wee phylodes. I think this may be mildew? I believe it is weakening/killing them. What should I do about this? I am scared to harm them further?
4: At what stage should I re pot them? And should I just use normal potting mix or should I mix some river/sea sand etc into the mix? Any help here would be great.
5: The temperatures are dropping. Would it be worth keeping them indoors until spring (Even though Auckland never goes below 0 degrees C)?
Thanks in advance for your help... I appreciate it!
