'Forever young(er): Meditation might slow the age-related loss of gray matter in the brain'

http://www.neuroscientis...d-loss-gray-matter-brain

Paper:

Luders, E.m, Cherbuin, N. & Kurth, F. (2015) Forever Young(er): potential age-defying effects of long-term meditation on gray matter atrophy. Frontiers in Psychology, In Press.

Two other interesting and relevant studies looking at meditation and grey matter in the brain.

Quick note: Mindfulness reduces the amount of noise in the brain. It effectively replaces a portion of sleep.

Not only does this help functioning. It also reduces need for Glucose consumption and much like sleep. Allows for Cerebal Spinal Fluids to reach these parts of the brain. Consequently reducing Oxidative stress, and primarily the cleanup of Beta Amyloid Plaques responsible for Alzheimer's disease and ultimately the loss of Grey matter. We all have these Beta Amyloids.

Out of the top of my head, no scientific references but this is my 2 cents.
Probably not relevant but I am trying to think of ways to optimize CSF to do even better clean-up.

One might enjoy a green tea before or after meditation:

Green tea epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) reduces beta-amyloid mediated cognitive impairment and modulates tau pathology in Alzheimer transgenic mice.
