Many teks recommend to freeze and thaw bark several times before beginning extractions. How long must one freeze and then how long do you thaw for acacia confusa?

Freeze till rock solid. Its called "freeze lysing". Over night works well. I freeze-thaw bark twice, once after the first acid boil and again after the second. I usually freeze the bark in a big metal bowl so I can dump the big ice-cube-bark-brick right into the pot for the next acid boil. Add some water so you don't burn the bark as it melts. But it also takes me over a week to do a full extraction. I do a full A/B, freeze-thaw between boils, naptha followed by xylene, pull till exhausted, re-x, fumurates. I like doing small steps over a long time. hehehe, yeah, I guess I could do it all in a couple days. I always do the freezes for 48hrs with the freezer temp setting as cold as it gets just to make sure its frozen real well. I actually store my bark a certain way so the first freeze is out of the way when i use it. What i do is powder 100g, fill a ziplock bag with powdered bark, add 25ml water at a time & mix until it's all wet & stuck together but not liquidy, then close the bag, zip another bag around that one & another one around that one & freeze. If you have a large supply of bark you can do multiple bags & have them ready to start extracting at any time
