Hi all, this is just a quick preliminary report, I'll revert with more details and pics if required, once the festive hoo-ha is behind us.
OK, so I did a MaxION extract on some new MHRB. After exhausting the hexane pulls, I did a final pull with toluene, which was left in for 24 hrs.
For evapping the toluene, I used the same dish I had used for the hexane. It had been scraped clean of goodies with a blade, but some "film" remained, along with a few tiny specks of spice that didn't want to leave. I figured the toluene could clean all that up too.
Using a fan, the toluene yielded maybe a teaspoonful of honey coloured oil, if that. To facilitate collection, I propped the dish up so the base was at a 45 degree angle, and left it overnight, in the garage: cool, and well-ventilated.
The next day, I was pleasantly surprised to see that where the oil had collected, it had formed a thick crust of earwaxy crystals, with no liquid oil remaining.
I've yet to test, but all looks & smells good. I'm wondering if the trace of solid spice in the dish has somehow triggered crystallisation of the oil?
Anybody else come across this before?
Have fun welcoming the Light into the world
“I sometimes marvel at how far I’ve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: “are all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?” For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.”
