I've been over cautious with heat throughout the whole process (fresh cactus prepped and dried at 115F; 1st vinegar pull at 145-155F) I only evaporated my first vinegar pull for about 12 hours, just to get a feel for what's what. I thought it might be ready and upon scraping it up, the vinegar bit my nose

So back into the dehydrating chamber it goes at 155F. I know that I should have evaped at 155F for 24hrs and then scraped up and re-dried. But, I do like seeing for myself the process results.
The second limonene soak sat for about 24 hours (stirred occasionally), and this time I figured out how to use the french press even more effectively, by squeezing, pulling it up, pressing down again for remaining limonene drops, then removing the press and stirring with a spoon and again pressing more. This allowed me to get way more limonene out. I enjoy how each successive time brings more wisdom and effective work. I surely had thought I pressed as much limonene possible from the first soak; I was wrong.
I am excited for the second batch of limonene because of its soak time and larger recovery from the cactus material using the press.
The color of this limonene pull after adding 25ml of vinegar (spun by hand for 5mins) is different, and the vinegar is not as clear as from the first. Perhaps, and hopefully, it is saturated with more sacramental alkaloids.
I would also like to add that I think washing the additional glassware that has limonene/vinegar residue with just limonene first instead of more vinegar makes more sense; if that makes sense at all. I don't know. After spinning the vinegar/limonene in a large glass pitcher, there's quite a bit of particulate matter that adheres to the glass. I'm suspicious of this containing sacrament, and am intent on recovering all of it. So washing w/ limonene after separating vinegar makes more sense to me vs. washing with vinegar and adding to the total vinegar that must be evaped.

I hope that makes sense.
