Hi, I have recently started doing some extranctions with some quite good reuslts. The only thing that is bothering me is that the dmt all dried and scraped off, does not really smell like DMT i've had in the past. When it burns it has the distinct dmt smells, but otherwise its smell is quite sweat. Its hard to explain, i have extrated some goo before this through evaporation and it smelt completely like dmt, this stuff is different in some way, again it smells sweet compared to other dmt. I ve had dmt not extracted by my self that smelled like dmt also when not burnt. This stuff i have freeze precipitated is a bit different. Any ideas?? thanks in adavnce

I've noticed that after I began to fell in love with DMT, it smelt nicer to me. Perhaps its smell is exactly the same.

It really could be a lot of factors. Could be different solids still present (white spice could be 99% pure but have that small 1% of fats or solvent residue or who-knows-what) depending on the processes used.
I remember years back I had crystalline but tan/orangey stuff. It was good, but definitely different from the pure powdered white stuff my other friend had more recently.

The stuff i got is quite white, the point is that when i extracted and evaped once before trying freeze prec. i got some brown oily spice that had that strong dmt smell, that the one i have now lacks, even if this one is much more pure. Also its not me getting used to it cause i compared it with the smelll of some other spice, that doesnt smell like mine.
It lacks that sour pungent part to it, that seems to be replace by a more sweet and mellow smell. Trying to do my best to describe..

I cant say for sure but maybe the smell you think is DMT isnt DMT, i remember a thread where it was mentioned that DMT from different solvents/extraction processes produced a different smell, i will see if i can find it. also, please dont mention obtaining DMT from anywhere other than self extraction, cheers edit- booom, here it isendlessness wrote:dmt has a typical indole smell, bit floral, but its not too strong. I suspect a lot of the smell from naphtha extracted dmt is from actual solvent traces, mixed in with the dmt smell. One can see this when extracting dmt with limonene and crystalizing the salted fumarates in water with sodium carb (im not sure, maybe that is what you did?). The resulting white dmt will be perfectly potent and apparently very pure (considering the process involved which should have removed most impurities, the looks and the strenght of the final product) and the smell is present, distinct, but subtle. Sorry for that! So you think the smell is due to solvent traces into it? I used Ronsonol if that can helpful...

no worries, but if you could edit it out of your post that would be good i dont mean to be patronising but it might be worth having a quick read through the attitude section. i think that different extraction methods result in Magic with different smells, if you do not know how it was extracted then any smell you associate with Magic may be to do with other contaminants. well all the other kinds ive had and also the one i evaporated in the past had the same kind of smell... dont know, its just something that makes me ask question

that thread states that people find the smell is different from different extraction methods so it doesnt seem to strange to me that different unknown batches smell different. INHALE, SURVIVE, ADAPT it's all in your mind, but what's your mind??? fool of the year
