are low yields normal? Options

Hey everyone, I tried q21q21's a/b lime tek (i did tek 2 w/ the naptha) and my first two pulls only got 150mg (from 100g mhrb), the third one isn't looking to great either so far. I wasn't expecting much, but still .15% in 2 pulls seems low from what I read in the tek. The only thing I'm doing differently from the tek is that I'm covering the precipitation container (the tek said it doesn't matter).

I'm not very familiar with teks and such and this was my first attempt so I'm not sure if it's something I did wrong, if it's this specific tek, or if this is just normal. Would it be a good idea to just let the bark goo sit for a few days then try doing the naptha pull again? I feel like I'm getting ahead of myself doing so many pulls since I can't breakthrough yet (my technique is bad, using a classic vg)...but at the same time I feel like doing that won't be easy with yields this low.

Thanks Smile

I would be thoroughly irate if 100g mhrb yielded less than 6-700mg first go.

How extensively did you cut and grind the bark?

How thoroughly did you mix your solvent into your solution?

Did you heat the solution prior to adding the solvent?

Did you evap your solvent down before precipitating out your alkaloids?

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. The bark I acquired was prepowdered so I didn't have to cut/grind it. I'm not sure how thoroughly I mixed it, the tek said to mix periodically not constantly so I would stir it a bit every few minutes. For heating, I just poured boiling water around the glass bowl that I had the bark-mix in and then I added the naptha to the mix. And I made sure everything was completely evaporated before I scraped it off the dish.

I've been reading through the forum a bit and I guess I'm supposed to make sure the naptha is completely mixed with the bark and then I wait for it to settle on top? Whenever I stirred the naptha/bark they were separate for the most part, the naptha always being on top.

So what I'm thinking of doing next is a sort of two-step heating/mixing. First I'll pour boiling water around the bark and let it heat for a bit, then I'll move the bowl to another container, pour fresh boiling water around it, and then add the solvent on top. Then I'll mix it a bit more thoroughly before letting it settle for 10 or so minutes and then finally putting it in the freezer.

Don't worry. Getting anything from your first try is already an achievement. Congratulations. Keep on learning.

Do you freeze precip?

So I did two more pulls, the third one yielded .17 using the same method as I did before but with more thorough stirring after adding the naptha, the fourth and most recent pull yielded .21 by allowing the goo to warm up a bit first before adding the naptha and doing things that way. So my total is around .5ish

And yeah, I did freezer precip Smile

I'm actually super happy with these results and I wasn't expecting that for the fourth pull.

Now I just gotta get over my anxiety/figure out how to hit it properly. I've been thinking about just using what I have to try and either just infuse herbs or make changa. What's the difference between the two? Is it just that changa has that harmala stuff?

If this was your first attempt then don't worry too much, possibly take note of anything you did differently so hopefully you can learn from it on any future attempts.

Enjoy the fruits of your labour Smile
