If you wanted to do an A/B but need powdered bark. Could you place the bark in some caustic soda water, let it degrade overnight, then re acidify to PH 4, then basify? Any problems with this? Dr. Barlow seems to use this method, I just wanted to confirm... http://www.dailymotion.c...qf_the-dmt-workshop_tech

Why bother...when a Hammer and a Blender will do it in 20 mins? Please do not PM tek related questions Reserve the right to change your mind at any given moment.

Lye will break it down finer than power and the finer it is the better yields will be. benzyme wrote:Dr. Benzyme says, "Why bother, when physical methods save time and reagents?"
Unless you are being sarcastic, physical methods don't save time nor effort. Drying, Blending & then Grinding plus sieving it to powder is a whole lot more time & effort consuming than just dumping some caustic soda in over night. I do wonder though if there are issues with changing it from acetate to freebase a couple of times. Perhaps, loss of yield??

Drying, Blending & then Grinding plus sieving it to powder is a whole lot more time & effort consuming than just dumping some caustic soda in over night. for bulk, some people pressure cook it (in dilute acid) for 40 mins, a couple times if they're obsessive. I'd say that's saving some time. there are also other homogenization methods, including, but not limited to, beadbeater homogenization, rotor-stator homogenization, microwave-assited extraction, and ultrasound-assisted extraction. all of these effectively lyse cells in minutes (well, except the beatbeater, that may take a few hours).. I favor the PC method, because the only thing that's occuring overnight is the freeze precip. but, it's your lye. Personally, I prefer to ration mine for multiple extractions. I'd like to know how these examples are being sarcastic , also if I had a choice of using chemicals vs hammer I'd go hammer !!

You could always use shredded bark and just boil it a little longer.

Thanks for the info, those instruments might be useful when working with small quantities such as: beadbeater homogenizer ultrasonic I still think the easiest method to get sub powder sized root bark is to dump it in to some lye overnight. I just wonder if the change from freebase to acetate to freebase is going to degrade the desired component in some way...

And how much are these new futuristic fan-dangle machines going to cost ?? thoughts of why you would like the bark broken down by chemicals when you can so easily have these barks powdered for free ! Do you either live in a part of the world where you have access to these barks and plant matter for self harvesting ,,,,,,,,,,,,, ! I'm only asking so we can better understand you're threads on the drying out and breaking down bark and plant matter

Videos are a bad idea. It just shouldn't be so easy. If you can't read a tek then how serious are you? Why would you not look up other methods before you trust something without any kind of review in the form of forum posts or something where people know what they are talking about ? The comments on that vid: 'I read somewhere Teflon will destroy D.M.T.' - Did you really ? Videos are for people who need to be spoon fed. And they should just avoid psychedelics altogether. They have a good place on our forum: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...osts&t=2550&p=25Making it look more complicated than it needs to be is a way to drop the confidence of lazy people. Those who are serious will find a much more complete, usually much simpler, tried and tested and reliable method. Art Van D'lay wrote:Smoalk. It. And. See.
