swim did an a/b tek, added naCi before basification, based, 5 limo pulls....

swim heated the limo before adding it to the basified soup.
the 5th one, swim was in a hurry and did not heat it. gently mixed it a few times after, but it did not separate completely.
so swim put the 4 other pulls together, and salted with vineager.
the 5th pull was put in a separate container, and the emulsion did break.
so swim added the 5th limo pull with the 4 others. then he salted again with vineager. it created emulsion, the limo solution became opaque, and the vineager came down practicly transparent.
the first vineager pull in the limonene went well, with a nice color. the problem occured only after he added the 5th limo pull that did cause problems to the other 4.

swim put it in the freeze overnight to see if it breaks, but no change at all....

what caused this? how to get rid of it?

Can you take a picture? Did you separate the non-emulsion part of the vinegar? if not, maybe you can do that.

The fact that you had already salted the first 4 pulls makes me think this last pull probably wont have too much alkaloids anyways, but yeah, you can try the typical tricks of putting on top of speakers with loud music so that the vibration breaks it up slowly. You could probably add some salt but it would be in your vinegar, so depending how you think of converting that vinegar to freebase it might be an issue. How do you plan to do that?

so, heat and vibration did help, the layers did separate, but there wasa a middle layer left. when swim removed the vineager, and placed the limo in other container, a residue was left. swim puts a little vineager in the residue, but it is not soluble in the vineager. any idea what it might be? maybe NaCi? also after breaking the emulsion the limonene left, is darker then it usualy is. normaly its a bright yellow orange, now its a dark brown orange. is this impurities from the basified solution?

pic 1 is the emulsion
pic 2 is the residue left (a brownish one in the bottom, and a white one in the wall)
pic 3 is the limonene darker in color

so after 48h with the solution being still, all the sedimentation from the basified solution settled in the bottom. it is that 5th pull-s fault, somehow it was not so dark colored when swim added it the the other 4.
so swim passed the limo in a funnel with cotton 2 times, and after that everything went normally. in fact, this was the limonene tek with best yeld, and best quality, swim ever did!
thank you nexus!

by the way, swim is still wondering about the white residue in pic 2... any idea?

Not sure but you can always wash with vinegar and if its alkaloids it will dissolve in the vinegar, and whatever doesnt, discard. Smile
