Okay, my friend Douglass has 2 teks going. And he has 1 smelly fridge. Luckily, everything still tastes good.

So,this first pic is from Doug's lime tek, this is his 3rd pull, which he let naphtha sit for like 3 days.
Let it freeze for 2 days, this is what Doug has.
Good? It's a lot better than his first 2 pulls from it (90ml/90gram of mhrb):

NEXT is Doug's Cyb salt tek... It's greenish yellow. Normal-ish? This has been in the freezer for 2 days, he pulled it out yesterday and looked at both teks, then clumps started breaking off the bottom of this one.
Here look, green and what not.

Dangit Douglass, what have you done now...

So he did some researching, and found smelly freezers are common. Some people use dry ice in a cooler, but that seems like a bit much.

Can he put the plastic lid over these glass trays? Or will the naphtha react poorly to the lids? What about cling wrap? Or basic syran wrap?

He also read that you can freeze it in mason jars or whatever, with the lid. But he's was wondering how you'd get the crystals out? With a spoon?

He's looking for any advice he can get, because it seems this information is missing from both Teks, and he's a bit lost reading posts about what other people did.

Any advice is welcome!

Always cover your trays/dishes when freeze precipitating, you want them air tight. The plastic lid that comes with those type of dishes should be fine, plastic cling wrap is also fine. The solvent and the plastic should never be touching each other so don't worry about interactions between the two.

The main reasons for sealing the jars are (to keep the smell out of the freezer) and (to keep frost and water from forming in the container).

Most of the time I use a much smaller container a 4oz glass sealed with cling wrap and placed in a ziplock freezer or sandwich bag.

After drying out the Cyb salt tek, this is what it ended up looking like :/

And thanks for the answers on the lids. A thousand thanks for that.
