Hey guys, SWIM did an a/b tek with vinegar lye and naphtha on 250g of acacia confusa. product is nice and white but when burned produces a faint smell of vinegar? Should SWIM be concerned?

Acid bath x3 8 hours each
Defat
Lye to 12-13
Naptha to freeze precipitation
This is the first pull product

There's a few ways to get different smells trapped in DMT, usually for anything like this a simple recrystallization gets rid of it.

Thanks for the reply! Would it be something that is going to cause much discomfort or any side effects? The crystals appear white (I know this doesn't imply purity) and I followed the tek down to a tee. Let me know your thoughts! Excuse my naivety Very happy

Hi drigonometry

Do you mind me asking what tek you used?

As you mentioned, the colour of DMT is not an indication of how pure it is. IMO I don't believe traces of vinegar would cause any adverse effects when smoked, but maybe a more medical saavy nexus member can offer a deeper insight.

As Orion mentioned, i would recrystallise what you have to make sure you get rid of the impurities. If the vinegar used was normal, which usually means 5% acetic acid, then it shouldn't leave a smell in your final product. You can also get some anhydrous ipa or acetone, dissolve your DMT in it and then evaporate it. This will hopefully release anything that may be trapped in the crystal structure.

I hope that helps Smile

I would definitely recommend recrystallizing. While traces of vinegar may not pose any significant health risks, to me it indicates the possibility of other contaminants which may not be as benign as vinegar. Plus the crystals just look so beautiful after a re-x Big grin
