The Machine - How bad is it for your lungs? Options

I had my first breakthrough last night in which I was thrown around a psychedelic kitchen by three entities. It was the greatest experience of my life and I used The Machine to do it. However, I'm a bit concerned how much damage is being done to my lungs. I burnt the copper scrubber completely to get rid of any chemicals like it said to do in a guide. However, I feel like sometimes I would still inhale copper smoke. One time, it was so bad that the copper scrubber CAUGHT ON FIRE. Like literally, a full flame started which set extremely bad vibes and panic for the trip that endured a few seconds later. Does anyone have any insight?

If the scrubber caught on fire it is either much too fine (does copper even burn like steel wool?), or it was actually DMT residue on the scrubber that was burning. If so, you are probably using too much heat. Back the lighter away a little and try again (with a clean scrubber).

I never really found the machine to be a very pleasant way to smoalk. My recent experience with enhanced leaf in a water bong has been very comfortable for my lungs and is dead simple. I would give it a try if you can.

Why is it bad to reuse a copper scrubber? I was able to breakthrough 3 separate times with the same one. I hate having to remove the factory oils by burning it for an hour.

You can reuse it, just make sure it's clean of any burnt DMT residue, that stuff will make any subsequent hits taste awful. The easiest way to clean it is to let it sit in acetone for a few minutes until the burnt stuff dissolves, then repeat this at least once more with fresh acetone, then wipe off the scrubber and let it dry.

Yes, it is probably dmt (oils) you are burning. You don't have to apply this much heat! Use less and you won't have to worry about burning copper either. I hope you are using the coarse scrubbing pads ?

Although I am unfamiliar with the Machine, my countless experiences with the VG lead me to believe that it's best to heat by the radiant heat of the flame from a small distance, rather than full flame immersion.
It's cool controlling the heat that is going through a vape by minute breathing differences, and watching the flame dance around! ;D

I use the machine with great success every time. I also use a regular ol pjpe to smoke changa. You are definitely applying the flame too close... you want to draw in the heat from the flame and heat the copper through induction, that way the copper will heat up without burning the dmt, which you want to avoid at all cost. If you properly vaporize the dmt, then it is definitely better for your lungs than to smoke, say changa which is just that... smoke. The machine is meant to Vaporize which is vapor NOT smoke. Hence better for you err.. not as bad for you Pleased

I agree with the above posts saying that you are probably holding the flame too close.

If your copper mesh didn't catch on fire when you heated it for an hour, then the flame you saw must have been DMT. This indicates that you are in fact holding the flame too close so it touches the scrubber. Also, you really don't need to heat the copper mesh for an hour to burn off the coating. About five minutes or so (until you no longer see smoke coming off of it) is more than enough.
