A friend of mine is planning to use Noman's tek soon but, as she lives with her parents, is wondering how best to do so.

basically, as she will do it when her parents are at work, timeframes are tighter especially when the freezer temperature will have to be turned down, etc.

she was planning to mix the mhrb, lye, naphtha and water together and pour off the naphtha into separate jars on one day, then freeze it for 8 hours the following day, before evaporating off the remainder.

firstly, is 8 hours long enough for freezing? she is going to turn the freezer down as low as possible, hoping this won't do anything to the food in it!

secondly, would it be better to leave pouring off the naphtha until the next day, or is it ok or even beneficial to leave it on top of the rest of the mix overnight?

essentially she just needs to know the most suitable point in the process for the mixture to be left overnight.

It doesn't really matter. Best advice I can give is not to do something illegal underage. But, by all means, do what you want. Experience is the best knowledge.

The person hasn't said they're underage.

8 hours should be enough time for freeze precipitation.
As for your second question, leave what on top of the mix overnight?

The most suitable point would be the freeze precip part.

Iirc this information is in noman's tek already.

What OP should do is try LazyMan's Tek instead, it involves evaporating Naptha with a fan in your room (with windows open) instead of putting suspicious spice laden jars in the 'rents freezer.

Be prepared to run into problems if you follow the lazyman's tek.
You don't need to follow a worse tek if all you want to do is straight evap it.
Also, if you add a fan straight away, my friend has found that a lot of dmt-n-oxide forms.

What I said was more of a general piece of advice for everyone. SWIY should probably have a better environment where you wouldn't have to worry about being 'caught' by, well, anyone...

dont forget solvent gives off a rather distinct smell that after awhile u might get used to but when mom comes home she may smell it.

U can follow normans tek but instead of freezing, evap down in a glass baking dish by placing a fan directly over the dish. Try to use a little less solvent then the receipe calls for in normans tek.

it will evap down in less than 4 hrs if u only do like 100 grams of bark at a time. 200-300 ml of napath.

Also look into dry tek, lime works great as a replacement for lye. lye is very dangerous.

If u evap with a fan place the dish out side. Don't want mom coming home and smelling paint thinner in her house.

basically:

Well, this is going to be my first extraction as well.

I'm telling my mother that I'm going to make some shampoo with the Lye and the MHRB and stuff. I mean, it doesn't really make any sense whatsoever in reality...but maybe the best way for your friend not to get caught is to let them know she's doing something silly with chemicals.

Last thing anyone needs is there mom finding a bunch of chemicals and weird crystals that she had no idea about...lol

I've got this really crazy idea. Why don't you sit down and talk to your parents first? Are you absolutely sure they wouldn't understand this? Granted I do not think I could speak to my parents about it, well maybe my dad would understand since he told me not to go through life without trying 'cid, but I guess you need to do what you need to do.

Regarding your question, when SWIM did her Lazy's women's tek, she found that that her spices froze is 3-4hrs. Overnight was preferred by her, however not required.

Honestly, if you dont have your own place, you should not be doing any tek IMO. Just my 2 cents.
