DMT for first psychedlic? Options

I'm going to go against the (so far) popular idea that LSD is more unpredictable than other psychs, as I've had a lot of experience with it.

IMO, and in discussing it with others, LSD appears to be more gentle on the ego, dose for dose, than many other psychedelics. There seems to be more control, especially at the tail end of the trip. In this light I feel it to be a great starting point, as long as you don't dose too high.

I personally did Salvia before DMT, which can be quite startling, but can therefore, "soften the blow" to DMT, which although totally different, gives a good initial impression to the speed at which vaporized DMT hits you.

Follow your instinct, but be prepared...

You can have a very DMT like experience on shrooms, or any of the several other natural hallucinogens. But it sounds to me like you just want a short trip, perhaps because you fear being committed to something for several hours.

YES, you can have a 10-minute intense trip... but there's a big problem with that, however. The experience can be so intense, and so short-lived that you will bring almost nothing back from it at all that you can remember. You'll just be left with an echo of yourself screaming "that was intense" but ironically have no idea what you're talking about.

It seems that several hours are required to gently bring you up, and then give you time to start to form the experience into memories as you come back down. This is why so many methods of slowing down the experience have been invented, such as mixing with herbs, or drinking ayahuasca, etc.

If you don't think you're ready for a long duration trip, then you're not really ready for a short one either... but this is just my intuition.

DMT has been my first psychedelic, and I don't care what 'psychedelic' means; This experience will shake your soul.

Do it. Do your best to reflect later; but don't count on it.
Drink tea.

azure,

I totally agree with you, you put it in the right wording: if not ready for long then not ready for any.

I would add that short "light" oral trips can be very hard, but good preparation and a sitter will do it.

good luck

DMT is a great psychedelic to start with in low doses. The duration is short and you can briefly dip your toes in psychedelic waters. Just pay close attention to accurate dosage.

I did it and I turned out just fine *twitch* Wink

I personally think a person having tried mushrooms or other psychedelics would be more familiar with the terms of "letting go", and understanding the concept of meditation whilst under the influence. I believe that would allow the user with a far more rewarding experience, as it would eliminate more fear and allow for more focus in the trip itself.
