Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground has sadly died, aged 71.

His work might not appeal to many here but he was a class act, IMHO.

RIP.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I love this interview. The fact that he and Laurie Anderson were married still sort of blows my mind. I never would have thought of them together, but they seem the perfect couple Smile :

Quote:
Jenny said, when she was just five years old
You know there's nothin' happening at all
Every time she put on the radio
There was nothin' goin' down at all
Not at all

One fine mornin', she puts on a New York station
And she couldn't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine-fine-fine-fine music
Ooohhh, her life was saved by rock 'n' roll
Hey baby, rock 'n' roll

I would say RIP, but I doubt he'll ever rest.

Gonna miss him... Cool
Images of broken light,
Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

Velvet Underground + Nico and White Light/White Heat are two of the most brilliant albums to come out of the last sixty years. Lou's influence has and will continue to stand the test of time. We owe him so much. Rest in peace.

Guess I lied... Probably my favorite VU or Lou track.

Not a fan of the drug, but I can't think of a song that captures it better than this one...
