I've searched all over youtube in particular for "relaxation videos." There are many, and quite honestly, I've found most of them annoying: I find listening to "gentle rain" from a speaker, for example, to be jarring rather than relaxing, lol. But finally I've found something which produces really MAJOR effects for me--effortlessly. Listening to these videos EFFORTLESSLY--one can ignore them and go about one's work, for example--produces in me a pretty decent meditative state: thoughts and mental noise vanish, and whatever one is concerned with takes on a heightened sense of reality. Really amazing. I hope others find these as useful and intriguing as I have. Here's just one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnjbG-HR81Y

The Tibetan singing bowl has a very hypnotic sound, very good for meditation. I have a track that has a mixture of digeridoo and Tibetan singing bowl and find it great for meditation. I've also listened to it during a mushroom trip and had a very "ancient" feeling experience. There's something very moving about it's sound, very trance-like.

Most often I end up just playing my singing bowls myself now when I smoke DMT or take other tryptamines, or meditate. If you don't already own any I would recommend getting some. Long live the unwoke.

How does a singing bowl work? "I am cursed by the blossoming knowledge of my feminine ideal and she looks suspiciously like you."

Thanks for sharing SWIMfriend, and I`m happy to see you around here!
I must agree with the power of singing bowls to help put us in deep meditative states. They can be great during ayahuasca sessions, and I can imagine with other such substances too.
I noticed though that not all singing bowls have that special quality to them but I have not been able to find out why, if it`s related to material, size, small shape irregularities, etc.

This thread really makes me wanna get a singing bowl. I've been aware of them for a long time obviously, but this thread...this thread... "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead
"Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids" - 9th century Arab proverb

But nothing comes close to the time I went into this tiny little sound-dome at a festival and played a huge quartz singing bowl while someone stuck the end of a didgeridoo next to my head.

This is a snippet from the full length version which is 30 minutes. If you enjoy it I recommend getting the full version, it's very ethereal. Just listening to it now really brings me back to that amazing time I had with this track and the mushrooms.
