Hello all, I would like to learn more about identifying San Pedro\Peruvian torch cactus. Looking for books/internet sites. I also upload few picture few of them I know that it is San Pedro but the other one not so sure. I have a mushroom field guide that is amazing for identification of various fungi. There might be something similar for cacti, or for plants in general in your area. Hiya, That looks like maybe its trichocerus of some sort, maybe not though. Could you take a close-up of the spines? From the pics above, the spines look a little large/black to be San Pedro. Search myrtillocactus geometrizans. I think that may be what you have there. But please wait for more replies, I am not a cactus expert. One last thing, if you edit the title of your thread to read "please help ID--trichocerus" you'll be more likely to get responses from cacti people. And the little piece is from a tip in the Israeli desert was not sure what it was

ok, i had to ask  2nd and 3rd pics are san pedro (t.pachanoi). first and last are not active cacti- and i cant tell about the cutting pictures. i'm not sure if the look alike would be dangerous to consume, but i'm sure it couldn't be pleasant! oh look- i got a cactus icon
