Nutmeg as an MAOI? Options

Some sources state nutmeg is not an MAOI, others state it is.
I was wondering if anyone here has used Nutmeg as an MAOI before a smoked dmt session and what the effect was.
My friend is considering trying it, looking to get all the information he can.

Thanks Smile

I also read it is and read it isn't from respectable sources, so it seems no one really knows.

I'm also curious about nutmeg with mescaline. Anyone tried that?

That’s just more of the same vague information. I don’t really think much serious work has been done on nutmeg. You see a lot of reports about it causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and people saying its sort of like marijuana, and a few people like it a lot, but there’s no real solid information on the effects of nutmeg or how to properly prepare it or extract it. I gather a lot the info out there on nutmeg is probably just the same information rehashed over and over, likely originating from just a few sources, and some of it is probably inaccurate.

Screw nutmeg!
My friend took a couple of massive nutmeg doses a long time ago. There was definitely abdominal discomfort. The psychoactive effects for him and his buddies were also unpleasant. No real visions or hallucinations (maybe some flickering) but definitely some dissociation and confusion. Very hard to describe but for many people it feels distinctly dysphoric. Like a helpless feeling of impending doom.

My friend would never try mixing any psychedelic with nutmeg even if it is capable of MAO inhibition. Seems like a recipe for a bummer. Maybe some people have a different response but most people don't like dosing nutmeg.

all i have to say is that...SWIM is not fond of the nutmeg high...you need waaay too much to get effects...and then they last for days...if you want to feel horribly stoned...tired...and drunk feeling for a few days..oh and with severe cotton mouth..and extremely dry eyes......grind up some nutmeg and eat a tablespoon....

SWIM would never take nutmeg for an maoi...even if it did work...it is NOT something he would want to be on..in combination with DMT..
it's a sound

Yeah, that's the general opinion on nutmeg. I think we all know that. Most people do not like it and would never do it again. Whenever someone starts a thread about nutmeg you get all these posts about how much is sucks, etc. However, there are a few people here and there that enjoy it quite a lot. The difference between a good and bad experience could possibly be from how its prepared.

Think about Yopo. If not prepared properly with lime, it basically just makes you sick and does little else. But when made properly with lime, it produces quite a strong trip.

Nutmeg has a lot of alkaloids in it, not just one. I recall one guy in another thread mentioning he had a positive experience with it, but he prepared it very differently than most people do. I think his preparation method probably removed lots of the undesirable alkaloids leading to a superior experience.

I love the taste of nutmeg, but never experienced any effects from it. When I was a teenager, I tried many times to experience something from it, but nothing was ever felt, not even stomach discomfort. I ate it as is and didn’t do any special preparation steps.

Does anyone know what the possible oral MAOI dosage of nutmeg would be?

All I've really found is that dosages above 30 grams have been known to cause lethal/fatal effects.
So if it is a really light MAOI then it's possible that you'd need too high of a dose.
Also found that the nutmeg butter (only 20-40% of the seed) contains the Myristic acid, and the essential oil (8-15% of the seed) contains myristicin.
I think I read in another thread a method for extracting the oils, can't remember it exactly though, but it might by the way to go for using it as an MAOI, since Myristicin is what's responsible for the MAOI property.
