Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has tripped similar to this. I believe this is what first got me interested in 'what is Yogi Dmt?' Because this song is so out-there, and weird.. It just makes you wonder. I think for those who don't know this song , or Tool. It'll be a nice share. Now in some "song meaning" threads, they never speculate he's tripping on DMT (From what I've seen) After blasting off, and reading the lyrics, yeah. Maynard must have been blasting off on the west coast. Here's the lyrics, I love the song. Im not sure if cursing is against the forum policy, but it's again..Just the proper lyrics. I'll remove it if need-be. Thanks! 'All righty then Picture this if you will
10 to 2 am, X, yogi DMT, and a box of krispy kreme's in my "need to know" pose just outside of area 51, contemplating the whole chosen people thingy when just then a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this. Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my birkinstocks, and me yelping "holy fuckin' shit!"
Then the X file being, looking like some kinda blue green Jackie chan, with Isabella Rossellini lips, and breath that reeked of vanilla chig champa, did a slow mo matrix decent outta the butt end of the banana vessel, and hovered above my bug eyes, my gaping jaw, and my sweaty L. Ron Hubbard upper lip and all I could think was, "I hope uncle martin here doesn't notice that I pissed my fuckin pants!!"
So light in his way, like an apparition, he'd had me crying out... "Fuck me! It's gotta be The dead head Chemistry The blotter got right on top o' me Got me seeing E mutha fuckin T!"
And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning, E.T. revealed to me his singular purpose. He said. "you are the chosen one. The one who will deliver the message. A message of hope for those who choose to hear it, and a warning for those who do not." Me! The chosen one. They chose me!!!! And I didn't even graduate from fuckin' high school!!
(You'd better listen)
Then he looked right through me with somniferous almond eyes Don't even know what that means Must remember to write it down This is so real Like the time Dave floated away See, my heart is pounding. cuz this shit never happens to me.
Can't breathe right now.
It was so real Like I woke up in Wonderland All sorta terrifying I don't wanna be alone While I tell this story And can anyone tell me why y'all sound like peanuts parents? Will I ever be coming down? This is so real Finally it's my lucky day See, my heart is racing cuz this shit never happens to me
Can't breathe right now.
You believe me don't you? Please believe what I've just said See, the dead ain't touring and this wasn't all in my head See they took me by the hand And invited me right in Then they showed me something I don't even know where to begin
Strapped down to my bed Feet cold and eyes red I'm out of my head Am I alive? Am I dead? Can't remember what they said God damn, shit the bed
Overwhelmed as one would be placed in my position Such a heavy burden now to be the one Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending To write it down for all the world to see But I forgot my pen Shit the bed again Typical
Strapped down to my bed Feet cold and eyes red I'm out of my head Am I alive? Am I dead. Sun kissed and Sudafed Gyroscopes and infrared Won't help. I'm brain dead Can't remember what they said God damn, shit the bed
Can't remember what they said to me Can't remember what they said to make me out to be the hero Can't remember what they said Bob help me Can't remember what they said
We don't know and we won't know God damn shit the bed 'You are the architect of your own Destruction.

Who knows maybe Maynard is lurking around here I'm pretty sure Mastodon also uses inspiration for their lyrics Always loved this song "Finally it's my lucky day..." With every great plan comes the pleasure of patience. Take a rest, and grab a suckle off the teat of life!

http://youtu.be/VZXJLQntCP0Here is the song. "Think more than you speak" "How do you get rid of the pain of having pain in the first place? You get rid of expectations" "You are everything that is. Open yourself to the love and understanding that is available." "To see God, you have to have met the Devil." "When you know how to listen, everyone becomes a guru." " One time, I didn't do anything, and it was so empty... Almost as if I wasn't doing anything. Then I wrote about it. It was fulfilling."

Rosetta Stoned is a great tune! It always takes me back to a crazy experience a friend and I had on L while camping a few years back. Tool is a very psychedelic band and I feel like I get something new every time I listen to them.

Their art is mostly done by Alex Grey, he does DMT art. Check it out ) Also, check out the songs, Lateralus, Jambi, Right in Two, AEnema, Schism, Parabola. Lateralus is written with the Fibonacci sequence driven into the lyrics, and the timing of the instruments, it's rather amazing what Maynard does. I personally, feel as though Tool is a part of me. My avatar, is an eye from one of their albums. I find the album Lateralus, and 10,000 days to be the best. Maynard, oddly enough. Is also an ordained minister. But in the song Judith, it's rather amazing how he says "Fuck your god! Your lord, your christ!" He's mad at god for allowing his mother to be paralyed. (She got para at 13, and died roughly 10,000 days later..which is why the album was called 10,000 days) I could go on for ages, but really! They're amazing. Check it out. Maynard also does Puscifer, and A Perfect Cirlce (Bands) He has a guest appearance in Deftones, for the song Passenger. It's also another good band, and that's also a good song too. Tool also thinks your a part of me. Judging from the lyrics in album Opiate. My favourite. The album always calms me down for some reason. Tool has helped me get in touch with my anger and deal with it in a healthy way. Maynard has also done a live performance with Alice in chains , he did "Them bones" and "Man in the box" As i love both Tool and alice in chains. Hearing that on youtube was like sex to my ears. Maynard is one inspiring man, don't you think?

I believe that the music of both Tool and the Grateful Dead are sort of blueprints for what the future of music will sound like one day.... music starts at 3:00 ^ starts to get good at 14:25- incredible at 28:27 “Music is the voice of God traveling through ten-dimensional hyperspace.” ― Michio Kaku

I like how he coined the term "OGT" in 92 (Original Gangster Tool) from their 92'Ep But I was born in 93 ( Like how gangsters took it and turned it into Original gangster thug, or someshit You are the architect of your own Destruction.

Well, what can I say...Tool. Probably THE most influential band for me. Or at least in the top three. They mix psychedelia with a hard rock/metal sensibility. No wonder I've been obsessed with them since I first heard Undertow in what...94? I think it was 1994. Rosetta Stoned is definitely the best song off 10,000 days. My favorite album is Aenima. I anticipated that album for years and when it finally came out it did not disappoint. I listened to that album so much my friends used to hide it so they didn't have to hear it when they came over

What an awesome place, I'm glad more people share my views I'll try breaking through to deftones. I feel like that would be euphoric. You are the architect of your own Destruction.

Thanks a bunch for the song suggestions scorpion ill totally give em a listen. Thats also cool that they performed will alice in chains cuz they are amazing. Ive seen alice in chains live 2 times, and at one of their shows when i was like 11 or something the drummer called me up on stage and handed me his drum sticks and i got signed picks from the guitar players. cool shit.

I'm pretty sure the guys from Tool have tried every pyschedelic that's out there. I've always found Rosetta Stoned to be a very critical song towards psychedelic users and the so called messias syndrome that one can come by with these substances. Personally I've gotten a bit tired of Tool though. I used to listen to them a lot and I'd walk around with Tool T-shirts and everything, lol. Now I find their music lacking in emotional dimention. Depth they have, no doubt, but dimention... like all those other strange emotions you can't put your finger on or even find words for... The music that still and really touches me these days is The Mars Volta. I'm sad they broke up Buon viso a cattivo gioco! --- The Open Hyperspace Traveler Handbook - A handbook for the safe and responsible use of entheogens. --- mushroom-grow-help ::: energy conserving caapi extraction

Just want to throw out a Danny Carey to balance all the Maynard talk. Maynard is great, and Tool has some interesting lyrics, especially the evolution from some of the darkest lyrics around on Opiate to the really ethereal stuff of the last albums, but Danny Carey is the man and the true driving force behind Tool being one of my favs for the last 20 years. Forge a Path with Heart <3

I can't really find anything LIKE tool except maybe Deftones, or Pink Floyd. It's just the feeling I get, It's like a sense of belonging to it. I love me some Alice in chains, and whatnot. But nothing hits my soul like some Maynard. (APC has some good tunes too) I must say, Danny has done what I believe alot of drummers couldn't . Keeping up with those off-time beats and such. You are the architect of your own Destruction.

but also the guitarist and bassist are playing very very good. i think what makes them good is the synergy they have while playing. in my eyes and ears, they all have an equal part in their songs. some of the nicest guitar effects in their songs too, always crispy clear.
they are definitely one of the bands on the top of my list.

Tool didnt click for me until I got into Bill Hicks. I was listening to the song Ænema and the chorus rung a bell. Then I started reading more about the band and was intrigued by how deep some of their songs went. So they went from a band I liked and casually listened to to one of my favorites. I started hearing the songs different--it's like layers of an onion just keep peeling away. It's funny when I talk about tool to some of my friends they seem surprised because I'm a deadhead and not "supposed to like metal". Well good music is good music, and when you learn how intertwined things are it makes them that much more interesting, IMHO.
