A couple of nights ago I drank a brew consisting of Syrian Rue followed by 20g of Acacia Confusa. This was my first time doing so. The first 1/2-2/3 of the trip was pretty rough, but the most disturbing part was that my body temperature dropped precipitously. Even in a warmish room, wearing two thick sweaters and a huge piles of blankets, I was freezing cold. I was heading into hypothermia territory. I know this wasnt hallucination because my wife / took my temperature and it was 96.8 F. I ended up getting in a hot bath to keep myself warm.
My friend who was tripping with me, and who has done this a few times in the past, says that he also tends to get a little chilled, but my reaction seems a little extreme. It seems that perhaps my body has a tendency to this kind of reaction. I was took Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds with this same friend, and I also became really cold (although not as disturbingly cold) during that trip while my friend did not.
Thinking about it, I notice I also became cold the few times I have smoked DMT, its just that the experiences were short enough that it never seemed like a problem.
So, does this happen to other people? Is there anything I can do about it? I would like to continue working with oral DMT, but I am concerned that it might be legitimately dangerous for me. Thoughts?

harmala alkaloids can do that I think Pharmacol Biochem Behav. 1995 Oct;52(2):421-6. Hypothermic effect of harmala alkaloid in rats: involvement of serotonergic mechanism. Abdel-Fattah AF, Matsumoto K, Gammaz HA, Watanabe H. Source Division of Pharmacology, Research Institute for Wakan-Yaku (Oriental Medicines), Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Japan. Quote:Abstract
The effect of total alkaloid extracted from Peganum harmala seeds collected in Egypt on body temperature was studied in rats. Intraperitoneal administration of the Peganum harmala extract produced significant and dose-dependent hypothermia. Similarly, harmine and harmaline, major constituents of the harmala alkaloid, lowered the body temperature. Pretreatment with p-chlorophenylalanine (100 mg/kg/day for 3 days), a 5-HT synthesis inhibitor, significantly attenuated the hypothermic effect of the total alkaloid and harmine, while it tended to block the hypothermic action of harmaline. Methysergide (2 mg/kg), a 5-HT antagonist, significantly attenuated the hypothermia induced by harmala alkaloids. Pindolol (0.05-2 mg/kg), a 5-HT1A receptor and beta-adrenoceptor antagonist, partly blocked the hypothermic effect of the harmala alkaloids in a dose-dependent manner, whereas propranolol (10 mg/kg), a beta-adrenoceptor antagonist, failed to alter it, suggesting that beta-adrenoceptor is not involved in the hypothermia caused by the alkaloids. Pretreatment with a dopamine receptor antagonist haloperidol (5 mg/kg, s.c. and 2 mg/kg, i.p. 24 and 2 h before the experiment, respectively) significantly attenuated the hypothermic effect of harmala alkaloids. Moreover, in haloperidol pretreated rats, methysergide (2 mg/kg, i.p.) and pindolol (0.05 and 2 mg/kg) completely attenuated the hypothermic effect of the alkaloids. These data suggest that harmala alkaloids produce hypothermic effect mainly through endogenous 5-HT stimulation of 5-HT1A receptor anyway, it is not something to be worried about

I got really disturbingly cold one time I vaped dmt, granted I was outside and it was a kind of chilly early morning. I remember thinking I was being taken away from this world for good, and wondering whether or not it was a good idea to give in to the cold and keep tripping, or try to force myself out of it. I ended up coming out of hyperspace in what seemed to be an instant, but I felt insanely cold sitting there and thinking about just that, till I went inside and wrapped up, which was like fifteen minutes later. If we are all one, we are all alone.

Once upon a time on mushrooms, i was feeling very strange and weak, and decided to take my temperature to see if i was getting to hot. Surprise, it was extremely low 95F. taken again a few minutes later, 93.something! "This thermometer is broken right, or am i dying" (both turned out to be fine) Takes temperature one more time to be sure. 91.4! OOOk WTF I took a hot bath at that point. It felt wonderful, like life returning, and the trip turned enjoyable. After the hot bath my temperature was back normal. *ALL WAYS WITH LOVE

This happens to me. Dosent seem so extreme but, every time with changa but not with just crystals. I posted about this a bit ago.

I believe that may be a case of Vasoconstriction.

Im gonna join the ranks by saying i too experience these cold snaps in trips quite often aswell, even just with enhanched leaf, but strangely never with any sort of crystal form(maybe purity plays a role) it has been troublesome at times since it denied me several breakthroughs,my ritual to avoid this has become to have a glass of boiled water(cooled down to a drinkable temp obviosly but similiar to the warmth of having a hot chocolate)cover myself in clothes and get under a blanket and the results has been well, warming something interesting to look into im keen to see this thread develop as im too puzzled by this but excited to see how widely amongst people its felt. The lives of all they occupy their eyes in dismal gloom the all-piercing,dead oculi - mirrors of our doom Oblivious to the trespass as you gaze into the black the demon of surveillance insultingly staring back Into you, they own your every secret, your life is in their files the grains of your every waking second sifted through and scrutinized, they know your every right. They know your every wrong, each put in their due compartment - sins where sins belong
