Patiala: Punjab Police on Friday seized 9 kg of 'Mescaline' drug, from a resident of Patran in the district, police said in Patiala.

One Jatinderpal Singh of Patran has been arrested in connection with the haul under various sections of the NDPS Act, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) H S Mann told reporters.

Singh claimed that he had got the drug from close associates of the kingpin, who is dealing with this new kind of drug and is lodged in a Rajasthan jail and operating from there, the SSP said.

Mescaline is derived from opium that cost between Rs. 1,200 and Rs. 1,600 per gm and is said to be priced at about Rs. 2,000 per gm, the SSP said adding that with the traditional supply chain choked, recovery of Mescaline shows that alternative drugs are making their way into the region.

Mescaline is a naturally occurring psychedelic alkaloid of the phenethylamine class, known for its mind-altering effects similar to those of LSD and psilocybin, Mann said.

The SSP said that the first consignment of 10.5 kg was recovered on Sunday from the possession of a woman Simranjit Kaur, who was arrested.

Police are now trying to trace the whereabouts of two other accomplices of the woman, who managed to give the police a slip.

How can they say something like "Mescaline is a naturally occurring psychedelic alkaloid of the phenethylamine class, known for its mind-altering effects similar to those of LSD and psilocybin"

and also say something as tragically stupid as "mescaline is derived from opium"?

Makes me wonder if it was really mescaline they found. 9kg?! Good god that's a lot of mescaline.
Be an adult only when necessary.

Given the location, it seems more likely they found some sort of opiate tar or heroin precurser.

Also this:

Would make more sense if local supply chains were of heroin, etc. How much of a local supply chain is there for Mescaline in India to be disrupted? Stop

If fox news thinks you can get DMT from any tree bark at all then it would not surprise me if some random reporter in India does not know mescaline from opium.

In the reporter's defense, writing for deadline on subjects you know nothing about is probably very demanding work. Crying or very sad

Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

I think with the existence of Google a reporter should be able to find facts like that pretty easily, their just becoming lazy and don't care about providing proper info any more. WHen I read mescaline derived from opium I almost shit myself laughing.
Understand: Nature knows no EVIL, Nature knows no GOOD, people know these things, because we perceive these things, with the gift of senses given to us at birth. A good or bad experience is simply a bridge to a another existential time frame, so always live in the moment and make every one a positive moment!

Any and all posts or interactions are to be held as my fictional writings/short stories or dreams. I may even have some delirium setting in, I've never been tested for it. The only exception to this is the statement about nature above, I feel this is a fact!

You know there are also mescaline addiction treatment centers. Better 'round up all the spiritual leaders of the past.

Journalism these days are nice examples of sensationalism intended to drive site traffic rather than providing a solid story based on facts.

That's why blotters were invented: They weigh less than sugar cubes and thus result in a lesser charge in the case of a bust. The substance medium factors into the weight of the possession. Apparently that's how drug charges work, or used to(?) Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.
