just add more base solution directly to the suspension, it breaks up emulsions instantly
(it's analogous to using high pH with STB or salting a solution)

doesn't hurt the yield at all.

Yeah, when SWIM was doing his STB, he couldn't make an emulsion if he wanted to.

The more the merrier... I am always careful though. I know that this reaction works so well because it is highly exothermic, injecting a bunch of heat directly into the emulsion layer.

Gloves are a must though, a glass vessel can get hot quick like this. It can also get too hot and pop its bottom and spill extra-basic goo all over the place.

Just wanted to say thanks benzyme. You helped swim out of a predicament he wasnt sure how to fix. Rolling eyes
