Yesturday was the second time that I've watched the movie.
The first time I watched it was long time before I had done ayahuasca. Just 2 months after my hyperspace trip, so this is yesturday.... I was crying all the movie like a little boy. Y tried to explain my girlfriend how jumping in the hyperspace was just like that...
How you would look at the nature just like that.... How eywa was.... Just like that....
There was even a part in wich the mom sings to eywa so she can bring the scientist back alive...the shaman sang to us while doing ayahuasca just like that!
Anybody finds just like me to many coinsidences?

I cry every time I see that movie. The cartoon fern gully is pretty much the same plot but somehow not as sad.

also this is interesting:

James Cameron, the director of Avatar, hosted a fundraiser for the indigenous Achuar in South America. The Achuar are fighting oil companies for rights to their land, and Camron thought it would be a good idea to invite tribal leaders to a screening of Avatar – because of the environmental message in the film.

But their comments after the film were not what he was expecting and now he has rewritten parts of his planned sequel as a result of the negative remarks.

A tribal elder said: ‘In this movie, they solved their problems by fighting. We are not afraid to fight, but we have decided to solve our problems through dialogue. So this movie needs a better message.’

So Cameron says he will change the film.

That movie is very sad. It is almost like what happened to the Native American's here by the English settlers. It makes me sad when the dramatic battle scenes happen. It really is a beautiful movie and is really good to watch when frying. Especially on a flatscreen HD TV. Hehehe. Pleased

The ending is good though. Which I like.

Welcome to the Nexus gusss. I believe you will fit in nicely here.

Well I guess I hadn't realized about the fighting. Well yes I think there is more cleaning to do in me!

Has anyone read The Word for World Is Forest by Ursula K. Le Guin?

Very similar theme to Avatar, with a much darker ending.

Highly recommended reading.

great topic! it is so clear that this was inspired by aya visions as well. So much so that there was a whole psychedelic initiation scene. that is when jake eats a glowing purple worm and takes the poison from a spider. It would explain why he is fully accepted after not being.. there is no reason for this in the movie without this scene. I can't find the scene anywhere, but a friend of mine is the gf of the guy that played jakes avatar. He remembers eating a worm. The scene is in the script here.
