..here's the positive side of the 'opposing side'.. LEAP - Law Enforcement Against Prohibition <link Quote:Law Enforcement Against Prohibition is an international organization of criminal justice professionals who bear personal witness to the wasteful futility and harms of our current drug policies. Our experience on the front lines of the “war on drugs” has led us to call for a repeal of prohibition and its replacement with a tight system of legalized regulation, which will effectively cripple the violent cartels and street dealers who control the current illegal market.

That's simply great. Their "Why legalize drugs?" tab is an excellent little summary. "The Menu is Not The Meal." - Alan Watts

+++full support for LEAP! They strike at the HEART of the matter, because without police cooperation there aren't many resources left for busting people.

I remember listening to the FM radio late night in the early 1990s when I lived in So Cal to an Orange County California judge proposing legalizing all drugs, and that it was a miscarriage of justice to have the drug laws in place that he said don't solve the problems with drugs. He stated that in fact the laws caused more problems than they solved based on his experiences as a superior court judge. Orange County California at the time was heavily republican, and this judge happened to be a republican. I was impressed! Unfortunately he was in the extreme minority at the time. We need more people in the executive and judicial branches of government to be realistic about this and push from their end the abolishing of these wasteful and ineffective laws. There's hope! For the officers that is. I think politicians are trained hypocrites and liars.

The problem with politicians is that they want everyone to like (vote for) them. Therefore they will say whatever it takes to get a majority vote is seems. When boiled down to the the final reduction, this seems to be the essence of their dishonesty. Rivea...i think 85% of what we directly see in politics (as a member of the public looking at a politician) is equivalent to posting a picture on facebook in the hopes that it will get enough "likes" to make you look good. 10% is the actual social work element of government, and the other 5% is the most powerful and devious...the $$$ side.
