can i use a porcelain baking dish in the freezer instead of a glass one?

If it is old porcelain I would not put it in the freezer. In the micro cracks of old porcelain moisture can form and that might damage the porcelain when freezed.

Modern (healthy) porcelain should be able to handle the freezer without any problem.

Yeah should be fine...although clear glass makes it easier to see what you're scraping up. Also porcelain tends to be a little pitted and may 'catch' on the blade.
Glass is a better bet if you can get hold of one.Thumbs up
