Fungi enthusiasts demonizing psilocybin Options

I had joined a popular forum for fungi enthusiasts and nature lovers in the UK. Someone made a thread in the fungi section saying a fungi website he uses has more searches for liberty caps than any other. He said it's a sign of the times that people are searching for magic mushrooms more than other fungi, and that "youths" are more interested in drugs than nature. So I made a reply saying believe it or not psilocybin has helped thousands of people, and entheogens have been a part of human nature for thousands of years. I logged back in later to find I was permanently banned without ability to contact any admins or mods. People are so quick to condemn anything because someone says it's a "drug". Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance.

I think you're also too quick to judge them; could it be that you broke some very important rule of the forum, such as it is FORBIDDEN to advocate magic mushrooms or similar?

I can see how they can zero tolerance on mentioning magic mushrooms, e.g. a)there are fora more appropriate for such discussions and b) they might be afraid that they'll be flooded with many people (many of them possibly very annoying or immature) asking for nothing else but magic mushrooms. In many ways I agree with their stance; you must have come across shroomery and the amount of random people who just post a picture of a mushroom they found in their granma's lawn and ask whether they can trip off it.

Only it was in a thread about liberty caps...so this argument doesn't really hold.

It sounds like the Forum owner was kinda a douche about it to me, but then I'm only going on second hand info.

I do agree with you ( Infidibulum ) though. If I ran a site dedicated to real mycology I'd put something in my rules against talk of psychedelic mushrooms for all the exact reasons you mentioned.
If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

It's easy to see how a general fungi forum would not want to be turned into a "drug" forum--or that general fungi experts would not want to be asked to give advice about magic mushroom cultivation or use.

Keep in mind that either cultivating "magic mushrooms" OR picking them (and thus possessing them) is illegal, and most forums (to some extent even THIS forum) have rules against discussion of illegal activity.

I agree, the site can do what it wants, rule-wise. Rules like that are understandable, but it is still a douchey move to ban someone for posting their opinion. It'd be one thing to ask about shrooms, talk about picking them, etc., but it's another to politely speak an opposing view and get banned. I don't think one person saying that there may be benefits to something would have tainted the image of a site. It's not even talk about illegal activities. I thought this country was founded on the idea of free argument of policies? At least, that's what they say, but in practice......well you know.

Ignorance has never been bliss, and yet so many people ardently oppose shedding ignorance.

While this being true, to me the internet doesn't really belong to any one country, so to say that would imply that the website 'belongs' to that country, and should then follow its rules.

I do agree though, people should grow up and learn to discuss/debate about such things openly without reacting like that.
A dramatic shift approaches...

Good, so you both call them ignorant and not grown up because they did not allow some magic mushroom talk? Better lay of this judgmental attitude gentlemen. Listen, they have their own forum and there are things they like and things they don't - we're the EXACT same thing here. Just like them, there are things here that we do not want to discuss/debate about and you can simply get banned for disobeying. Forums are not platforms where everyone can step up and have a saying.

I'm also locking this thread since there is no reason to spill drama of what happened in another forum over here.
