Hello all. I've been using the limtek method and was thinking about trying a recipe with lye.
Now I know I can't post sources but I found a good site that sells food grade lye pretty cheap.
Only like $3 and some change for 2 lbs. But I was wondering what you guys prefer for obtaining
those suspicious and watched chems. Am I more likely to get put on some watch list by giving my
credit card info and address online? Do you personally prefer buying in the store with cash? I'm
sort of one of those people who thinks "they" are watching us. But anyway. Just wanted to get
some opinions from my fellow nexicans.

(And I might just be bored and lonely and want some conversation)

Use caution. Sodium hydroxide is *sort of* watched. Order a few pounds domestically and you should be fine. If you want piece of mind, I suggest ordering some fatty oils, a soap mold and/or some essential oils. Everything needed to start that new soap project.

Not a bad idea. I might even go ahead and make some soap too. I always wanted a soxhlet to extract my own essential oils to make lotions and soaps.

personally id stick with lime. my friend started out with lye, always wound up with yellow oily crystal and poisoned them self with lye tainted crystal. With lime he doesnt have to worry about chemical burns, poisoning and ALWAYS gets pure white crystal

I would be interested to know how much better lime really works than lye. You can get a huge bag of lime for cheap especially at farmer type stores. I have only used lye so far cause I knew it would basify it enough. That's cool about getting pure white crystals off the lime tek. Any other experienced members agree or disagree with using lye?

Making soap is an excellent cover for spice also.. good job for mentioning that.

You want pickling lime...not crushed lime/slaked lime/etc.

Can you share moar about this incident ?

Was it an A/B or STB ?
How was he poisoned ? Via inhalation ? Effecs ?
Was carbonate wash performed ?

Was minorly hurt from smoking. Since it was his first times from what he read he thought it was supposed to burn some what. He still has health issuses to this day from when he made pharmahuasca with it. He is kind of thankful for the chemical injury though. He didn't expect to live and it gave him a whole new love for life. The tech done was the lazy mans tech. stb

Thank you for sharing that because safety with all this is very important to me and a lot of users on the Nexus. I appreciate you showing concern for your friend and all of us. It's unfortunate that this happened. I used the A/B tek but STB sounds like it could go bad. Has anyone else had a bad experience with STB?

Lye boils at 2530*F
This is above the temp that DMT boils at.

Boiling= vaporizing.
It should be hard to have lye end up in the end product, or to have it vaporize with DMT.

A cigarette gets to a maximum of about 1292*F
A bic lighter flame is also unlikely to be hot enough to vaporize lye.

Lye can burn you, and has bad fumes, so is great to avoid, but it is unlikely to be vaporized by most methods for 'smoking' DMT.

I am aware of this, but it definitely did burn my throat. I am not sure how. Perhaps particles carried in dmt vapor

Albert, maybe he could have inhaled some lye particles. If the same substance, when eaten, caused chemical burns I wouldn't discard the option that somehow lye got in his throat.

What extraction method using lye ends up putting lye in the end product?

Did you get chemical burns from eating it? How much did you eat?

I'd assume that if you tried pharma with it that you put in into pills, that right?
that would have put it into the stomach where small amounts of lye should be neutralized by the acid that dissolved the pill.

I use lye and have for years, I have never had a problem with it, but if it can end up in the end product I want to know how so I can avoid being burned myself.

It happened from carelessness. Don't worry. I personally just will never use it again

Water Boils at 100C, but it evaporates at 2C.

Water is quite volatile at 99C, giving off plenty of steam, but its not boiling at that temp.

Vaporization is not the same as boiling.

I suppose salts may be different than liquids though

I use lye for extractions (store bought w/cash), always get snow white crystals...never a problem. Only time crystals caused any discomfort was when I burned them by accident instead of vaping them (when I first tried to vap it in a "crack" type pipe, saved up and switched to the GVG....Smoov sailing since )...perhaps that is what caused your discomfort.
