10x Caapi Leaf: Boiling vs Everclear Options

So I found this method online:

1. Take ten grams of caapi leaf. Break it up a bit and place it into a one pint mason jar.
2. Pour in enough gran alcohol to cover the leaf matter. (75% or 95%, both work fine)
3. Shake vigorously every day for a month.
4. Collect the alcohol and strain out any plant material. I use a french press.
5. Chop one gram of Caapi leaf. Pour alcohol over the chopped leaf, and set in front of fan to dry. Stir occasionally.

You now have one gram of 10x caapi leaf.

Is there any reason to do this method over boiling the caapi leaf and then pouring that over a 1g of caapi and letting the leaves absorb it?

Also, if you did decide to do the everclear method, is step #3 really necessary? Does it really take a month? Or would a week suffice?

Interesting you folks are boiling it down now. That's cool you found a quicker method of doing it. Swim doesnt like smoking agueous extracts as much but I am sure it's just as effective. Lately swims given up the 10x extract and has just gone back to just plain old spice and leaf... Swim started to find that the 10x was limiting the visual aspect a bit in favor of duration... Just a matter of preference at the time. Differnet batches and methods of prep are really interesting. Haven't been here lately glad to see changa still evolving!
Cheers!

I just received all my changa herbs!

I have some caapi leaves, skull cap, blue lotus, ect.

Can I use the boiling method for all of those herbs?

I have a couple of question concerning the method.
1- how much water should I use to boil lets say 10 g of caapi leaf
2- Once its done, how much should I reduce the water, dont I loose all the goodies by evaporating the water? How much water should I let it evaporate, 1 tablespoon?

thanks

Is the water extract as easy to smoke? It seems to me it would be kindof goopy without a food dehydrator. Lots of my resinous extracts come out a little wet.

You don't have to soak the leaves in ethanol for a month. I asked about this a couple weeks ago when I was making my first batch of changa and apparently it only takes 3 or 4 days to absorb the harmine from the leaves. The weeks-long soak is for Vine. It evaporates quickly and cleanly into dry herb... how long does the water take to evaporate? Without a food dehydrator.

I'm thinking about trying it with the next batch of changa I make... the prospect of getting it done in a few hours instead of even 4 days is nice...

1. doesn't matter
2. you don't lose anything by letting the water boil down, boil it down enough so that it just covers the herbs you are evaping into. The more water you have the longer it will take to evaporate so try and get it pretty low.
