Question about the salt to be used for the crystalizing Options

In the TEK that I'm following is mentioned to use Iodine free salt for the crystalization. Why is that important and what will happen if I use Iodinized salt?
Is there a way to remove Iodine from salt? Because I've searched all over the city and all the salts were Iodinized salts. What can I do?

There isn't enough information in that thread. Now I have the alks liquid and I'm waiting to find a good idea about the salt to do the crystalization. Does anyone confirm that Iodine containing salt will work?

The information in the thread is that it worked for me and others but that just in case you could try to find elsewhere some non-iodized salt.. Is there no natural food stores in your town? They should carry non-iodized salt.

Sell of non iodized salt is forbidden here.I found it somewhere but I had to buy at least 50 KG! BTW I saturated my liquid with the table salt and it's in the fridge now.I'll post feedbacks here.

Here I got a problem. Last night I saturated same amount of water as the brew with salt and mixed them together and put it in the fridge. Today morning when I woke up there wasn't any changes or any crystals formed. So I boiled the brew and saturated it with salt. Now the whole liquid was saturated. Also removed the excess salt and again put it in the fridge. Till now 12 hours has passed and there is no changes.

Was that because of the iodized salt? I did a UV light test on the brew to and I'm sure there is nothing wrong with that.

The brew was a transparent and red before adding the salt, but after that it got darker as you see in the above pic.
Please give me some ideas.

Edit: After 24 hours I'm getting crystals! But they are hardly viewable due to the dark color of the brew. I'm going to filter it some hours later to see how much I've got. Any advices would be appreciated.

I can't imagine that these tiny traces of iodide can have much influence, depending on where you live 10-77 ppm iodine. Must be some other variable imho... it's a tricky process, I'm now doing a Manske on a trial batch of 50 grams right now!

The only advice I can give is patience... happy filtering Pleased

But actually iodine can cause some problems.I did tested iodized salt and non iodized salt for the extraction. When using non iodized salt I did get much more crystals.

Maybe you need to add more salt too.. Dont make salt saturated solution and add to the rest, you measure how much harmala solution you have, have it boiling, add 100g salt per liter solution, and let it cool down slowly.

With the stuff you already added salt to, after filtering try adding more.

Now I've got the crystals. But I wonder if it is smokable? I don't have vaporization tools so is it possible to use pipe like Meth to smoke the harmala salts? Or it must be in freebase form?

Better freebase form, yes. Filter/decant the crystals, redissolve in warm water, add base to precipitate freebase.

At the moment I only have lye.Won't be a problem to use it instead of Sodium Carbonate?

no it wont be a problem but add a very small amount to a water solution so that you only raise the pH enough (till, say, 11-12) and dont have too much lye in there.

Looks like a good yield.

I love that amazing greenish glow, like fluoresceine!
