dried chakruna grey? Options

My old dried chakruna is grey, black looking. is this normal?

Also, i have powderized it for ease of extraction. Do you think 3x 20 min boils of this black stuff should be enough to get most goodies out, before reducing?

Thank's.

Green grey leaves I have also, but grey black no. Looks dead tissue to me.

20min x3 times is enough to get the active out IMO.

Thanx rom. I'm starting to think maybe they are a brazilian variety or maybe even salvia leaves?

mine were dark grey, looking sortof black. When powdered it made a black mess. Managed to boil out some deep reddish drink. I guess it must be old Chakruna then!

I guess they were grey, Jamie.

They were also very thin and easy to crumble, almost dust like...sound familiar?

Yes, maybe chaliponga leaves, that are darker also IME, but it depends if they were dried in sunlight (darker) or in black room.
See, I dried salvia leaves and the one that drops and stay on ground go brown dark, the one I hand pick and dry in cupboard are green. dark green but green, no brown, grey or black.
Was your supplier legit ?

I guess so. The Caapi was fine, so i guess the Chakruna is ok, maybe old stock. I've had it hanging about 2 years now, but it always was that colour!

Just checked mine and they are not noticeably thin and don't crumble very easily

I guess i can try a little bit of the leaves maybe like 10g worth to test. Should be ok if it's Chaliponga, or Salvia...but not if they are TOE! Shocked ....Wink
