Read about this and caught an interview on Public Radio with him. The DEA hasn't even apologized!!!!!! Not even a sorry. Like what they did depriving a human of the necessary elements to live is as commonplace as stepping on someone's sneaker... "Reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistant one"-Albert Einstein

I caught this news a couple of days ago on TV and it disturbed me deeply. From what I understood, the facility in question was not even that big. The article says they apologized, but I mean I don't really trust that, you know? I mean, they couldn't even come up with SOME explanation about what happened, let alone the fact that they had absolutely no clue about how that facility was being operated, or at least that's what I'm left with after reading that part. This should raise a big flag. But then all we'll be probably left with would be flags at every corner. Quote:The acting special agent in charge of the DEA's San Diego office said he was "deeply troubled" by the incident and he offered his "deepest apologies" to Chong.
"This event is not indicative of the high standards that I hold my employees to," William Sherman said. "I have personally ordered an extensive review of our policies and procedures." The truth...lies within.

Chong said in radio interview he had not been offered any form of formal apology. Been trying to find reference but don't know if it was wisconsin public or national public or what....I'll ask my roommate that showed me when he wakes up. ^^^they usually don't apologize. It'd be interesting to find out the whole story, as it's doubtful that this was entirely "accidental". "...I didn't know that Cheshire cats always grinned; in fact, I didn't know that cats could grin..." - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

They don't apologize for the same reason doctors and lawyers do not - it's protocol instituted as self defense. In other words it is against their best interests to admit fault, regardless of how they really feel. Not to suggest it's a conspiracy, either - if you get into a car accident, what does everyone tell you? Do not accept blame, apologize or otherwise incriminate yourself. Do what needs to be done in a friendly helpful way, and no more. It's actually wise, and in the interest of BOTH parties. JBArk JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

JBArk I get what you are saying, but in the cases of doctors, lawyers and (particularly) a road accident the issue of who's "fault" it is remains up in the air and apologizing could be seen as an admission of guilt on your part. But when it comes to a situation where someone has been locked in a cell for 5 days without food, water or sunlight by an organization, in this case the DEA, then there is no question about where the blame lies and an apology would just be the decent, human thing to do. I can see why they would still keep their mouth shut to try and fight against whatever court action comes from the incident, but that just shows a lack of humanity on their part. I don't even really understand how this could have happened by accident. I've been in lots of cells and there has always been a way to contact someone, for example a button on the wall which you can press and they are legally obliged to come and check on you. This is precisely to safeguard against these things, and to make sure no one is dying of dehydration or withdrawal in the cells, but then again I don't live in America. -Я Ξ √ Ω L U T ↑ Ø N-

Same here tony. My time in the concrete cubicles all had 24/7 video surveillance, a person who's duties included watching the monitors for these, and an emergency intercom system. Mind you DEA detention facilities could be different than the county jails I've been in, but I'd assume similar precautions against suicide, bodily harm, or emergency situations that arise with the inmates or detainees. I really don't like the police. Ever read this story here, http://newsmutiny.com/pa.../NearDeathExperience.htm incredibly sad. "Reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistant one"-Albert Einstein

No, this is not a hoax, this, and much more iniquity, is happening right now.
The age old expression "May they burn in hell" is quite appropriate here.
